Description: Year Opened: 1973. This attraction debuted in New York at the 1964 World's Fair. Walt Disney developed this attraction to be part of GE's "Progressland" exhibit. The "Carousel of Progress" quickly became one of the most popular attractions at the World's Fair. The story is told via an Audio-Animatronic family as seen at the turn of the Twentieth century, in the 1920's, the 1940's and present day. Not only were animatronics amazing back in '64, the theater seats revolved around the stage. (If you think Disney has some long lines, you should have seen what it was like back in the stone age at the Fair.)

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic
Cons: Dated a bit

This ride gets high ratings simply on principle that Walt himself worked on it! It's cool to experience a piece of the legacy Walt left behind. It is a bit dated for the time though, but that makes it no less interesting.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic Disney and I mean old 60's Classic
Cons: Showing Age

I rode this attration when I was a young boy in Disneyland and then again as an adult on the many vists I have made to WDW. I have always enjoyed this ride and in the spring of 1998 while an older intern at WDW I received notice that my grandmother had passed on. I went to this ride as it depicted what she herself had seen and experienced during her life, she was born in 1904 and again marveled at the changes and pace of those changes that had occuured during the 20th century.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): History, Air Conditioned, No Wait Time
Cons: A Bit Outdated

This is my all-time FAVORITE Disney ride/attraction!! My family always makes fun of me (especially my mom), as they all say it is so boring and outdated, etc. However, I love that Walt himself created the entire thing down to the very last detail, it really adds to the "Disney" feel, in my opinion, and makes the ride more interesting. History buffs will love it, and I think that for those who think that it is boring, you have to think about it as a technological marvel at the time in which it was created by this true visionary. My only complaint is that the last scene is very outdated, as it is supposed to be the future, however we have passed it up by a long shot as far as 3-D games, and automatic flushing toilets, etc. I think if they updated that scene, it would gain much more appeal for some, but I understand that at the time it was first shown, the last scene was the 60's, and it was in line with being at 20-yr increments, as the first 3 scenes are... I wish the 60's, 80's, 2000's, and the future were on there! It may be too long for some, but I would LOVE it!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): A Walt Disney Classic.
Cons: Curtain and rug show its age.

We were there in early March 2011 and there was very littel wait time. This is a great ride to sit and relax and get out of the sun for 28 minutes. I have been riding this attraction for over 30 years and never plan on stopping. I just wish they would repair/clean curtain, rug, and seats. This is such a classic ride and sad to see that it doesn't get the attention from the cast members (or higher ups) and that a lot of guess don't know it is there or what it is. MUST SEE!!!!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): No wait time; sit down
Cons:

I remember this attraction from my childhood and wanted my family to experience it. However, the inside of theater is in a state of disrepair and that's really sad. The carpets are threadbare and stained and the seats sag. In the evening of January 10, 2011, there were 8 people in the theater.

I didn't recognize the song that is sung as the carousel goes round. I remembered "Now is the Time," also known as "The Best Time Of Your Life". I heard this melody outside near Tomorrowland Transit. I thought I was going mad until I looked it up when I got home. It was changed some time ago to "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow".

I would recommend this attraction for it's nostalgic appeal.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

We waited maybe 5 minutes to get on this the evening of 5/24/10. However, as soon as we got into the first room where you are seated, the ride must have malfunctioned, because for the next five minutes, every minute a CM would say "The ride will be operating again in x minutes. Please remain seated." Once it started moving, it was very enjoyable, song is very catchy. A little outdated, and the family doesn't seem to age that much, but we still would recommend it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): storyline
Cons: absolutely none!

Out of all the rides in Walt Disney World this is by far my most favorite. I NEVER miss it when I go. It's not for everyone tho, some find it boring. It's inside and air conditioned and you sit in theater like seating and the room goes around in circles like a carousel. It tells a wonderful story about the 'progress' of the American dream. It's so warm and cozy and family oriented

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic, Relaxing, No Wait
Cons: Boring At Times

This is a Disney classic that should be kept at the MK. It is a GREAT way to get a break from walking around and refuel yourself. The ride usually never has lines, which is great. The kids might get a little bored, but maybe they can get a quick nap during it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic, great music
Cons: needs some updating

As the name implies, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress was Walt's creation and you can practically feel him in that rotating theater. Yes, the seats are uncomfortable and the final scene is like 15 years outdated but this attraction holds a special place in my heart. This is a must-do every trip!

It was alot better than I thought it was going to be. It was very informational and good. At some points it was a little bit dull though.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): relaxing, history of the attraction
Cons: could be a bit boring for some

this is one of my favourites mainly because of the history of it. having had walt directly involved in it makes it more special than an average ride. I like the relaxing nature of the ride. could maybe do with updating the last scene but still enjoy it. would do this every trip. another positive is that you probably won't queue for long and it gets you out of the sun for a while : Posted via eTicket

Cons: a little boring

I said it was a little boring because not everyone will enjoy the sedate atmosphere of this attraction. However, it is one of my favs! I just love seeing how the home and family progress over time!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): short wait times
Cons:

This is a true piece of Disney nostalgia. I love watching and appreciating all the technological changes that the family goes through since the early 1900's. It's hard to imagine that just 100 years ago things were so very different. I think this should give kids a good appreciation of how good they have it these days!

Cons: Somewhat dated, needs TLC

Please do not skip this attraction. The best praise I can give it is that my wife is a coaster junkie and this is her favorite attraction in the MK. You never know!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): The history of it is amazing
Cons: Outdated now

To imagine where this has been and to know that this is Walt's direct work makes this a wonderful attraction even today.

The final scenes, looking to what the future may
hold, are a bit hokey now.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): It's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow
Cons:

My family's favorite attraction, including a 10yr old who wanted to reride this on night even though we had ridden it twice before that trip. The epitome of Walt's genius for entertainment. Though the last scene does need some updating.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic Disney. Fast loading.
Cons: In need of updating. badly.

This show is very fun. the last scene is very, very out of date, but the rest of the show shows just how far we've come since the start of the 20th century.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic
Cons:

I love the Carousel of Progress. I make sure to ride it every time I go. I never get tired of watching the American family progress from the turn of the century to the 1920's to the 1940's and "today". This is a classic attraction - and the song WILL get stuck in your head.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Still the best after all these years
Cons: sometimes you get stuck ion the same scene twice

I love this classic attraction. I must visit it everytime I'm in the Magic Kingdom. My favorite room is the Halloween in the 1940's. The enterence music reminds me of visiting my Grandparents in the Bronx back in the day. There is a metal chair off to the right that is the spittin image of one they once had.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): This is as Walt would want it! Cool, comfortatble, classic.
Cons: Interlopers and hooligans show true colors and dis this ride.

In the beginning Walt created the Carousel of Progress and it was good. Animatronics were cutting edge for their day and still convey the essence of Walt's "keep moving forward" mentality. The music is the plain chant of the Disney experience. I HIGHLY recommend this ride to all true Disney Believers!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Classic Disney, It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow
Cons: Outdated, Monotonous

You have to see this show/ride at least once. My daughter likes it and it's a great cool off from a hot day. I can almost sense Walt in this attraction and like to instill in my DD a reverence for classic Disney and the rides that Walt had a part in. This is a must do, at least once and I dare you not to spend the rest of the day singing "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.
