Positive aspects of the product (pros): Goofy fun and good food
Cons: Location requires transport time to/from

Once again, one of the highlights of our trip and a new family tradition. Yes, it is a goofy Hee-Haw style show, but have some sangria, whirl your napkin around your head, and have some fun. Even better, the food was great: tasty ribs and chicken and did I mention the sangria. DD9 got in the spotlight for her birthday and was thrilled. It was a great evening. Cat 2 seating was on the main floor and well worth 2TS on DDP. We had a rental car so drove from COS; even so, you still have to take an internal Fort Wilderness bus. Allow plenty of time for coming and going.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): clean humor, kids laughed and laughed
Cons:

Corny, clean humor; good (not great) food; made for a fun evening. The 9yo and 12yo with me laughed out loud through the whole show, adding to my enjoyment. My 26 yo old niece was chosen to be the Can Can Dancer (Can't Can't Dancer) Smile and she did a beautiful job with the dancing and her line, though she was very much out of her comfort zone! I chose this as our one ADR as we were staying at the Cabins - glad I did!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great Food, Fun Show
Cons: Check in Process

I was excited about going to this for the first time and a bit of my excitement was dampened by the check in process. It was slow and bothersome. You will want alot of time before the show to check in. After you check in you have to wait around for the dining room to open. You can get your picture taken (for a cost).

Once we were seated (right next to the stage) it was a blast. The actors were very friendly and even made several jokes at and for our table. We were celebrating the anniversary of a same sex couple that night.

I loved the sangria, as it helped take off the edge from the check in process, and made me relax the fun of the show. One negative sitting that close to the stage, is that you need to cover your food if the actors project too much and some spittle comes flying at you.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good slapstick humor
Cons: Food, transportation

In almost 10 visits, we had never attended the HDDR. I have wanted to see this for a long time and was looking forward to it. However, I was sorely disappointed. We did not care for the food at all. We couldn't figure out if it was because we attended the 9:30 show and the food wasn't as fresh then or if its because we live in the south and we know how that kind of food is supposed to taste. The show itself was corny but made us laugh. There wasn't that many people at the show, everyone was seated in category 1 and there was a large dinner party that kept interrupting the show/dinner. Apparently, they thought they were the stars of the show, which really put a damper on things. If we ever return, it will be a long time. : Posted via eTicket

Positive aspects of the product (pros): The atmosphere is fun and a hoot. The location in the campground. The show is just way too much fun and should not be missed.
Cons: Seating is cramped in some areas. Having to park so far away from the restaurant and taking a bus to the location. The mosquitos are also bad. While waiting, there is no set line or direction of where to go to wait.

This was the highlight of our trip. My DH and I had eaten here on our last trip and loved it. So we decided to take everyone. The kids were not sure what to expect. There were 6 of us eating on the dining plan.

When you arrive, if you drive, you need to park at the campground entrance and take a bus to the shows location. Which is kind of a hassle. When you arrive at the theatre, you need to check in. It is hard to find you way around especially at night because it is not well lit. The other issue is that people begin to line up and get in one line, but they should be in another. There isn't any signage telling you where to go or what to do. Once they open the doors it is a mad rush to get inside, so watch small children.

Once seated they give you salad for the table to share. The dressing is vineger based and quite tasty. They also bring cornbread with butter. It is moist and tasty.

Then the show starts. Let the fun begin. The actors are really quite funny and entertaining. So after about fifteen minutes, they bring the main dishes. Beware, they will be dropping heavy iron bowls in front of you with a big clang. Yes, scared me the first time they did it.

You get fried chicken, ribs, baked beans, & corn. All you are to eat as well as unlimited drinks which includes sangria, wine and beer. This is not the best meal ever, but it is good for what you get. The show begins again and runs about 20 minutes this time. Then they bring out the strawberry shortcake. Again, not the best I have ever had but good.

Once the show ends you need to board the bus back to the parking area. We did not know that there would be a fleet of buses waiting to take us back to the parking lot which was nice.

Overall this is a really good time and decent food. If you have never been you should go at least once.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Very entertaining, if somewhat corny show. All you can drink beer
Cons: Hard to get to Fort Wilderness, food is just ok

I really like the Hoop-de-doo review, but make no mistake it is all about the show, not the food. Sure the food is good enough, but it isn't great. On the positive side, you do get all you can eat of anything (my favorite is the corn bread) and even better you get all you can drink beer--where else can you get that at Disney World.

Kids love this show, but it isn't just for kids. My wife and I went and we had a great time, just the two of us. The cast members (waitstaff and performers), the show, and the whole atmosphere really does a good job of getting you into the hoe-down party mood.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good food- some of the best fried chicken I've ever had.
Cons: Journey to and from

I would give this a 10 if the price was about 10 bucks less. That being said, after a hot and very crowded week at the world, my wife and I along with our 2 year old twin boys, needed to kick back and relax. The Hoop de Do fit the bill to a Tee. The staff was great and the show was a lot of fun for all, especially the kids. We liked the "all you can drink beer"- because after a week at Disney with 2 2y/o's you really need all you can drink!Plus, the chicken is the best fried chicken I have ever had, and I don't even like fried chicken.
The trip there and back is a little daunting. I don't care what anybody says- just drive or take a bus to the main depot and then take the shuttle to Pioneer Hall-it's way easier than trying to take a boat from the Magic Kingdom.
Have fun and remember you're not seeing a Broadway show, just better than average dinner theater!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Super fun stage show
Cons: Uninspired food

The show is the highlight of this meal. Don't go expecting much from the food (fried chicken, ribs, corn, etc.). If you're not interested in the show, you can save a lot of money and get the same food at Trails End. Go for the experience, and pray that they don't pick you to participate Smile Everyone has to try this at least once.

Oh yeah, save room for dessert (strawberry shortcake... nuf said)

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Food was good, Show is intertaining
Cons: Takes some time to get to the venue

I was wary going in, but I kept an open mind and ended up having a great time. It is kinda hokey, but it is a really fun show for kids and adults. The food is pretty good and there is plenty of it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Fun for a group
Cons: Not easy to get to the hall

Great time for a group, food is always hearty and plentiful. Wait staff and entertainers are a blast, but I would not say this is an "every visit" place since the act does not change much.

Don't get catagory one seating unless you are willing to be part of the act, I ended up missing dessert and in a tutu up on stage last time.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Corny fun humor
Cons: over rated food

I have mixed feelings about this dinner show. People really love it, especially if you have people in your group who love the corny humor. It has a great history, having run for what seems like forever! The food is good, but its not as fantastic as people sometimes report. I have had better fried chicken, for sure. It's not bad food at all, I just think people have elevated and over-hyped it, especially at the current price point. Some people go every trip, but for me its enough to go every couple years. Kids really love it. So did my husband. Which tells you a lot about my husband. :-)

Positive aspects of the product (pros): A really fun night
Cons: The food is just OK; price is very high

Go to this for the entertainment. The food is certainly OK, but not outstanding. Its the entertainment that makes this so much fun. You are guaranteed to come out of there singing.

Unfortunately, the price for this experience has gotten to the point where I'm seriously doubting I'll go back.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good food, fun entertainment
Cons: tickets are pricey, can be tricky to get to the back of Fort Wilderness

This is the longest running dinner theater show in the World (not Disney World but the World).

They start off by taking your picture outside, which is available to purchase.

You get a hearty all you can eat meal of salad, cornbread, fried chicken, pork ribs, mashed potatoes, baked beans, and strawberry shortcake. All drinks are included, and you can choose from Coke products. Beer and wine are also included if you so choose.

The entertainment is corny, slapstick, Vaudville-esque style of a show. It is a lot of fun. I was skeptical, but kept hearing great reviews of it. So I checked it out. It had our whole family laughing, and they do a great job getting the audience involved in the show too.

It is a very hearty meal, and very entertaining 1.5-2 hour show. The tickets are a little pricey, but when you consider you are getting an all you can eat meal (that was good food), all your drinks, and a good show. It wasn't that bad. I highly recommend Hoop Dee Doo.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great show, great food, worth every penny
Cons: A little pricey, transportation can troublesome

The Hoop Dee Do is our most favorite dinner show at Disneyworld, and we make sure that we visit every time we go.

The trek to Pioneer Hall can be a bit daunting, but we have found the best way to get to Fort Wilderness is to take the boat over, and walk to the dining hall (this doesn't always work after the 9:30 show, if the boats aren't running).

Once you arrive, you check in and have a family picture taken, which is later presented to your table (for a fee, of course). When the doors open, you present your ticket to a greeter and you are then escorted to your table. A little hint - choose category 1 is you can possibly afford it!

Dinner starts with salad and corn bread, along with complimentary tea or sodas, and even beer and wine for those old enough. Soon enough Smiling Jack entertains on the piano, as the rest of the hall is seated. Then, the doors start rattling as the stagecoach arrives, and finally the Players burst into the hall.

What follows is a rollicking good time filled with song, dance, and plenty of cornball humor. Dinner is served with flair, including fried chicken, ribs, cowboy beans, and potatoes. The food is plentiful, with the chicken being the highlight. The lights dim again as the show continues. The finale, full of puns and slapstick, is capped off by strawberry shortcake, and the audience playing the washbords.

We've seen the show at least 20 times and never get tired of it. I recommend to everyone visiting WDW.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): tons of fun
Cons: none

Here's a little known secret..

On the dining plan (2 credits) you have to take category 2 or 3 seating if using dining credits. Except...if you wait until the 9:30 pm show you can get category 1 seating on the dining plan!! Smile
