Description: The stoic museum-like Dino Institute, where "the future is truly in the past", houses Disney's moving simulator ride, Dinosaur. As visitors enter the Institute, they pass informative fossil exhibits. The walls of the queuing area are covered with life-size casts of real dinosaur skeletons. The centerpiece of this room is an enormous Carnotaurus skeleton. Guests proceed to the loading area to board the 12-seat Time Rovers and begin their exciting time travel journey to the past. This moving simulator ride bounces, bumps and careens its way through a primeval forest where you'll encounter a number of amazing Audio-animatronic dinosaur specimens and some terrific special effects designed to stimulate all of your senses.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Thrilling ride
Cons: Can be jerky

This is an awesome ride. It's very much like the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland. The vehicles are the same. The story is pretty neat. There are twists and turns around every corner. Very fun!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Exciting For 1st Timers
Cons: Very Predictable and Jerky

Dinosaur, while listed as a thrill ride, falls flat in some aspect. The 1st time you ride, I will admit, it is very intense in a lot of respects. But stepping back and taking a look at the whole package, you feel there was something missing. That being said, I still ride it every time but I would not wait more than 15 minutes to experience it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): one of AK's best
Cons: scary, bit rough

This is my second favorite ride in Animal Kingdom (after Everest). When I went last Friday, there was no line (I went on at like 11:30). The dinosaurs are so realistic looking that it's a very scary attraction. My older sister (18) almost cried and my little brothers (7 and 9) were terrified. I was scared, not as much as them. But overall, this ride is so fun and I want to ride it again!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Signature theming and animatronics
Cons: Herky jerky motion

Fab theming starting at the queue right to the end, and wow animatronics.

The ride is pretty jerky tho...a bit too much as it detracts from the experience.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): truly frightening and exciting
Cons: young children should NOT ride

i love this attraction!
the ride provides you with a different kind of scary to the usual rollercoaster, this is more of a bumpy, dark journey.
its great fun and truly terrifying!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Provides a great scare
Cons: A litle jerky

I was not expecting anything when my wife wanted to ride this attraction. This ride was amazingly good fun. I was legitmatly scared a couple times on the ride. While the ride is not for little children I think its a good thing to have a couple of rides that are for older visitors of Disney.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): thrill factor, well done animatronics, Indiana Jones car
Cons: scary, jerky

Well, I didn't LOVE this ride when it was Countdown to Extinction. Then it was rethemed to Dinosaur (remember that movie?) and I love it less. It was over-the-top scary and loud. Now it's much less so, but the watering-down has not really made it a better ride. If you are a thrill-seeking teenager or roller coaster lover then this is probably for you, but there are better rides at WDW. And it is NOT for the faint of heart, those with back problems, pregnant, or small kids. We leave this for the grownups who have time to kill in AK.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): imaginitive
Cons: too intense for sensitive kids

DH and I love this ride. I never tire of it. My grandson who is 5 couldn't wait to get tall enough to ride...and he buried his face in me the whole ride. He said he will never go on it again...too scarey and too dark. I am not a thrill seeker, so I love this.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Well, people love dinosaurs.
Cons: Tosses you around; hardly Indy

I'm sorry - but if you've been on the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland then you should be appalled by this attraction. The same ride vehicle, the same ride system, and this is what's produced? Indiana Jones has an incredibly detailed and believable environment while Dinosaur is dark and boring. It also seems to whip you around to the point of pain.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Excellent AA Technology
Cons: Loses its Luster after first ride

My wife and I rode Dinosaur during our first visit to Animal Kingdom in January 2008. Fortunately, we had no preconceived notion as to what the attraction would be like, which meant that everything that happened caught us by surprise.

During the final scene in which the riders confront a rather ornery, carnivorous dinosaur, there is a flash as the riders' photo is taken. Luckily for me, the photo is taken when the dinosaur lunges the first time. Had it been taken during his second lunge, I readily admit that it would have caught me screaming like a small girl. In fact, there are probably small girls out there who would have held up better.

Regardless, the ride was very intense, and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having said that, if you are the type who does not enjoy being scared, like my lovely wife, then you will hate this ride.

The biggest drawback would be that once you have ridden it once, Dinosaur really loses a lot of its luster. Knowing when and where the dinosaurs will pop out kind of defeats the purpose. Then it's just a loud and bumpy ride.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great theming and story
Cons: Extremely LOUD

This is a really fun attraction. I would enjoy it a lot more though (and would have given it a 10) if it wasn't so gosh darn LOUD. If you want to avoid the harshest of rides, ask the CM if you can ride in the front row. It's the rear of the ride cars that buck and jump.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): amazing audio-animatronics
Cons: very jerky ride rather than fast

The ride has frequent sudden starts and stops. I could see that someone with back pain would be adversely affected. It supposedly uses the same ride technology as Indy in DL, but the latter is much more enjoyable.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Atmosphere, if anything.
Cons: The ride.

A very rough ride and absolutely terrifying to me. I don't know if I'll ever go back on it. Way too loud and way too bumpy. The best part of the ride is the Dino-fied McDonald's posters on the way out of the building to the gift shop.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): well themed, action packed
Cons: some very LOUD roars near the end.

Like the theme of this attraction. Love the dinosaurs. Don't like the very load roar near the end, is toointense for my ears. Ride vehicle is very inovative.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): fun ride
Cons: bumpy, maybe a little scray for young ones

This is a good ride. The highlight is the "scare" toward the end but once you have ridden it the scare isn't as scarry. The ride is bumpy and jerky but it is still a good ride and since there are only a few rides at DAK this is one you may have to wait in line to ride.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Fun ride for the big kids
Cons: can be intense for the little ones

Dinosaur is a "great" attraction stuck in a "good" theme park. It is a fun and intense dark ride that might surprise some with how rough it can be. But if you like it rough (in regards to theme park rides, people!) give it a whirl. It is definitely worth it!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Inside Queue
Cons: Over to soon

This ride is so fun (for us) that we will sometimes ride it get off and get back in line. Before Everest was built, this was about the most thrilling ride at A.K. Don't miss it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): good thrill
Cons: too loud

This is a thrilling ride but can be scarey for younger kids. They have the sound way to loud and your ears will be ringing.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Exciting ride through a land of Dinos
Cons: Ride is a bit jerky

A thrilling adventure through a prehistoric landscape. Big scary dinos. Some seem so life like. We go on this attraction each time we visit AK.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Story and theming
Cons: Some effects problematic

This is normally one of my favorite attractions. I'm marking it down slightly because the last time I was there some of the main effects where not working. Once the lighting effects were off and the maintenance lighting was on. This really spoiled the last scene, as you could see the dinosaur from a mile a way.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great ride for adults and teens
Cons: Not a great ride for small children!

We have only been on this rid twice but it's NO way a rode for small kids as we found out the hard way! It's dark, loud and sort of scary for the little ones to say the least. It's not a ride worth waitng an hour to get on, but it's fun and a bit different from the other attractions. Our poor daughter was four when she wanted to ride this and half way through almost had a heart attack! We got the photo to prove it:) There were also some other kids coming off the ride that were just as petrified or were crying. It dies depend on your child, but it's not the POTC scary... It's dark and bumpy and loud kind of scary.... With dinos trying to eat you!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Decent thrill ride, well themed.
Cons: Appears to have been watered down over the years.

We loved "Countdown to Extinction" when it first opened. It was intense and the animatronics at the time were top notch and functioning. However since converting to "Dinosaur" the attraction seems to have been cut back. It has been plagued with techinical issues and the intensity of the ride was toned down a great deal.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Edgy and Cool
Cons: scary for small children

I probably like Dinosaur even more than Expedition Everest. It is a completely immersive experience from the moment you step into the Dino Institute. One problem it has is similar to that of the original version of Alien Encounter--the preshow does not accuarately represent how the actual ride is, which can be scary for small children, and even some adults.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great theming, sets, storyline & animatronics
Cons: really rough ride

I really enjoyed the story and setting of the ride. The effects are top notch and the plot is fun, but the ride is needlessly rough IMO. I'm not a wimp in terms of thrill rides, but the motion for this ride felt less exciting and more needlessly jarring. I felt a little green toward the end.
