Description: Year Opened: 1982

Epcot's icon is the impressive Spaceship Earth geosphere, affectionately referred to by most as the giant golf ball.

While the outside has been restored back to its original design, the interior has also undergone changes.

Now sponsored by Siemens, Spaceship Earth still features a trip back in time but with changes.

The new soundtrack features a 63 piece orchestra accompanied by a 24 member choir under the leadership of Emmy Award winning composer Bruce Boughton. Dame Judy Dench provides the narration.

While some scenes got a minor facelift, others underwent a big transformation. The ending is now interactive where you get to choose how to end your journey through history.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

Very, very short wait due to terrible weather on the evening of 10/8. Another ride I appreciate more each time I ride. I enjoy the video screens on the way down, but it seemed ours was broken for a bit. It did turn on eventually and we were able to see our future, something that makes me giggle every time.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great look at the past and future of communication
Cons:

As with most Disney rides, the ride is in constant motion so the line is always moving. The interactive part (the part to side track you as you head back down from the top) is cute.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): An excellent look at history and the future
Cons: not everyone wants to learn while on vaction

Everyone knows of the World's Largest Golf Ball at the front of Epcot, but not everyone realises that inside of it is a wonderful trip through history and even into the future.

The naaration is well written and the animatronics are brilliant. Theres even a breathtaking view of Earth as seen from space.

after the ride you can play around with the interactive games in Project tomarrow.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Still has some of the original animation. Must see!
Cons: some changes over time seemed unneeded

Overall, this ride is a must see. Thank goodness the Disney people have not changed the animation scenes in the history section. They are ageless, and are wonderfull! I never tire of going on this ride. I liked it better when Walter Kronkite (sorry. not sure of the spelling) was in the narration. They changed the section just after you begin to come back down. The special effect in that section was my favorite. It is gone now. That makes me sad. It was wonderfull!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): A ride in the Giant Golf Ball!
Cons:

It's a nice Epcot Original, which there are very few of these days. Sure they tweaked it a bit over time, but it still has the same feel. It's something everyone can enjoy.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great Update
Cons: None

No trip is complete without going on spaceship earth! Although the ride aged some I always enjoyed hearing Walter Cronkite voice. However, kudos to the new update! Same great feel with fun additions... : Posted via eTicket

Positive aspects of the product (pros): funny ending, cool that the ride's in the big ball
Cons: can be boring at parts

The line for this ride looks really long but goes by fast (about 20 minutes). I just went on this ride last week for the first time and I liked it, but it's not my favorite ride. It can be boring at parts, as the ride moves really slow, and it broke down on me twice while I was on. But I thought the end of the ride was funny.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): lesson in history
Cons:

This is my daughter's absolute favorite and she makes us ride it first on each trip. It was the first attraction she rode on her first trip to WDW at age 1 and she's been hooked ever since!

I like the way this attraction gives a look at the history of communications and then brings us to the present and future of communications. It's nice to look at where we've come from and have a chance to remember all the progress we've made over many, many years.

Ride this in the afternoon or evening if possible as the lines in the morning tend to get longer than necessary. Later in the day there is rarely a line at all.

Take time to explore the interactive areas at the end of this attraction. They are a lot of fun for everyone, not just the kids. Also be sure to look for your picture to come up on the large screen after you exit the ride.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): sending a picture email to yourself
Cons: unexciting

I didn't find this as exciting or interesting as most reviewers. I definitely wouldn't stand in line to see it, save it for the afternoon and see if you can do it as a walk on.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): New scenes, ascent
Cons: Descent, unmemorable music

First things first, the ascent to the top has been improved dramatically. Everything looks new, even the stuff that isn't. The new animatronic characters that were added are fantastic, and the new scenes added are perfect and fit the story great. Any changes or reductions are completely understandable, and this was a much-needed update.

Sadly, what you see on the screen on the way down is ridiculous after you see it a few times. It's cute the first time, but it's really a gimmick that doesn't play well more than a few times (without ruining anything, once you see it, you'll understand). I'd much rather have the fantastic scenery of the ascent continuing our journey into the future on the descent rather than being forced to stare at either a cartoon or random triangles floating overhead. The "star grid" room at the top of the descent, for lack of a better term, is quite amazing though.

Finally, the new musical score is not memorable. It's ambient and very well done, but not memorable in the same way the old musical score was, and I didn't notice even a hit of the old musical themes returning in the new score.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): A must! go through time's communication
Cons: none

This is a great ride. It is a must more than once per trip. It has been updated recently. The interaction is fun too. I love this ride and to me is it one of the best of Disney!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Interactive
Cons:

This is always a must do. The interactive screen is a great addition, and the ability to e-mail the picture back home is great. This attraction is a classic that is also great for some afternoon downtime to et out of the heat. The older kids really enjoy it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Educational but in a very entertaining way, great use of audio animatronics
Cons: I miss the old musical score and narration

When I went to Disney World when I was 8, Spaceship Earth was my favorite ride. Now, over 20 years later, it still is.

I love the overall plot of the attraction and how it presents information in a fun and educational way. I love all the details the Imagineers worked into each show scene. I really enjoy the "create your future" segment at the end--it adds some levity to the attraction and makes the descent a lot of fun for kids and adults alike.

I love how much they "spiffed up" the attraction in the last refurbishment. I do miss the old musical score which was so grand, as well as the more sophisticated tone of the old narration (I wish they could have had Judi Dench just re-do the old narration). But it's still my favorite WDW attraction.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Cons:

This ride is very relaxing and while the beginning of the ride is interesting - it's the end that had us riding 4 different times to get different endings. I don't want to give too much away, but it's very entertaining. This is a classic attraction - a must ride.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Movie athe end and email
Cons:

This was fun and kids loved being in the movie at the end. I watch the movie from the email you can send at the end of the ride when I need a Disney fix.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Recently refurbished, classic attraction
Cons: none

this is a classic ride thats fun for the whole family, its educational and interactive with the new upgrades they recently installed showing you how the humans evolved with communications through the ages. A must see try to hit this attraction either when you first enter the park (if the lines are not long or in the afternoon the lines seem to get shorter keep in mind that this attraction closes earlie in the evening usual with most of the attractions in future world around 7:00 PM)

Positive aspects of the product (pros): A timeless and inconic attraction
Cons: The new ending feels incomplete

I've loved Spaceship Earth since I was a child. We finally were able to see the newest incarnation of the attraction last summer and I must say the new scenes and animatronics look top notch. However the decent portion of the ride feels rushed and incomplete. Hopefully this will be fixed.

Now Spaceship Earth is one of my kids favorite attractions and it feels like we've come full circle!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Relaxing; educational; interactive portion at end is fun
Cons: none

My family loves this ride - even my young sons (ages 6 & 3) enjoy it. Without fail they always say,"It smells like hot dogs!" when we are approaching the burning of Rome scene. Our family finds the ride very calming.
