Pirates is a great ride, the animatronics are quite lifelike and the storyline keeps you into it throughout the whole ride, even if it is a long dark ride. There are some semi-scary scenes and the whole theme is sort of dark, so make sure you're aware of that before taking little kids on. If your kids were fine with the movies, they'll be fine with this. I would also like it to be longer, like the one in DLR.

Truly one of the best and most classic rides at WDW. From the moment you walk into the queue, the atmosphere is set. This ride is such a nice relaxing break from the hot Florida sun and really enjoyable and entertaining too.

Unexpected shut down, crashing into side of canal

First ride we went for on 10/10 at approximately 4:30pm. Just as we entered the building the Cast Members turned us away as the ride had shut down unexpectedly.
Returned about an hour later and it was up and running. 20 minute or so wait. As we departed the dock, the boat crashed into the side of the canal, which was unexpected and caused some minor injuries.
Overall, we love this classic attraction, especially since they added Jack Sparrow.

This is a very classic ride with Animatronics that are old and classic, yet with a new twist with Jack Sparrow from the movies. I love the ride!

Disturbing topic made "fun"

Even though this is one of my favorite rides, I always am a little disturbed that they have taken a very violent, murderous topic and turned it into a fun adventure. In the part where the pirates are attacking town, I can't help but think what REALLY happened when such an attack took place.
That said, it's a MUST ride! I love the "Pirate" movies, and think the updates to the ride are great!

I love these movies, and I think it's great that they've added Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and Davy Jones. We walked right on this immediately after park opening on 5/18/10; they were sending out empty boats! So much detail and fun songs! I think it's a little on the dark side, but that is a minor complaint.

I have been coming to WDW since I was 2 (I am 26 now) and, without fail, I will always make time for Pirates. As a purist, I was upset with the update to add the characters from the movie into the ride, but I have to admit they did a near-perfect job in weaving Jack Sparrow into the already existing storyline. I cannot wait to come back and ride again!!

Much better since they redid it with Captain Jack Sparrow. Great for the kids, not too scary. Has a nice little hill you go down in your boat which breaks up the ride a bit. Can't miss this ride, it's a must see!

Now I know that I am in the minority about 'Jack Sparrow' in the ride, but it's just my opinion....I am not a Depp Fan & was not crazy about the movie.Other than that AWESOME!!!!

This is one of many Disney World attractions that successfully takes you away from the park and immerses you in a whole new atmosphere. Your boat glides through the animatronic sights, the cool damp caves, and warm tropical ports. You witness Pirates carrying on with their pistols, partying, and firing their cannons (some which seem to just miss your head when they fire). This is a must visit for anyone, first timer or regular. Go twice in a row if there's a short line.

This was the first ride we ever did in MK, back in 1999, on our first trip to the USA. So, it's a really nostalgic experience for us, and we've done it every time since (except 2006, when it was closed for an upgrade.) I admit to being nervous about the 'Jack Sparrow' elements being added, but they have enhanced the enjoyment rather than spoiling it. I hope to still be riding it in my 90's.
