Description: Kelly Clarkson wannabes can have their shot at fame at the new American Idol attraction at Disney Hollywood Studios in the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests can audition before a producer to be cast in a theme park show. After being prepped with hair, make-up and a vocal coach, they'll perform in front of a panel of American Idol "judges" and live audience. Auditions to perform 900a-200p daily.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): A lot of fun
Cons: Mean judge is a little much

This is a great show to watch, even though I don't know if I could audition myself. It's great to cheer on the guests who are performing. However, I think the judges are a little much. They are really not necessary, even though I understand why they are there. It seems very un-Disney to have a mean judge. Still, I thought it was a fun show that really competes with the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire attraction in a real show replication.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Fun, upbeat and surprising good
Cons: loud and noisy

I saw an early (preliminary) show and it was good. The CM in charge of revving up the crowd was great, he really got the audience involved! I was surprised at the age range (16-45) for the three contestants and each held their own. Here's a tip if your intend to perform - use an upbeat crowd pleasing or a power- ballad (showstopper) song. Go see the show!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Fun Show, Entertaining, Audience participation
Cons: I think it's rigged

I wasn't expecting to like this show, but I did. I liked the way the stage was set up and the format of the show. I liked how they got the audience involved. I also enjoyed the guests singing.

I did not enjoy when the girl that came in the high heeled shoes (who does that in a theme park) won. She was a very good singer, but I thought another guest was much better as I thought the audience did too because of their cheers for the guy. It was a let down.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Production First Rate
Cons: To rah-rah for me

Not a fan of the TV show (DW is) but enjoyed the two visits we made recently. Production and staging are first rate, prospects have a lot of guts getting up in front of 1000 people. Hated the "everyone stand up and sing" part of the show.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Some people may actually have some talent
Cons: The panel of judges was annoying

One of the ladies we watched was actually pretty talented. I think this is pretty hit or miss though. I don't think this is something we would watch again. I was amazed at how much the host sounded like Ryan Seacrest!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Production values; excitement of finale
Cons: I assume the preliminary shows are weak compared to the finale

We saw the finale show on Wednesday, April 8.

Big fans of the TV show will probably AIE; Disney has gone to great lengths to recreate the look and feel of the TV show: the stage, the lights, the theme music, etc. The show included long video appearances by Ryan Seacrest and some of the past AI winners (all the winners appear at one point), with the onstage emcee pretending to interact with them.

Note that wheelchair guests and their parties are seated in the front 2 rows. There are large video screens (and the camera work is superb), so that you really don't need to worry about your view of the stage.

For people like me who don't really watch the show, the quality of the experience will depend entirely on the quality of the performers. Because my only experience was the day's final show, all the singers on stage were well above average; the two who vied for the top spot were professional grade. I actually look forward to the possibility that the winner (a 14-yo fireball who sang Aretha Franklin's "Respect") will get significant screen time when she takes her shot in the real competition.

I kind of miss "Doug Live" though...

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Exciting and current show
Cons: The preliminary shows are kind of slow

Overall, it's an amazing addition to the Studios. It's one of the most current shows at Disney World. Depending on the ability of the singers, the show is good to excellent. The finale show is especially exciting and worth seeing at least once.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice break from heat
Cons: Could affecting park plans for rest of the day

We were not expecting to enjoy American Idol Experience as much as we did. We were very surprised that there was no line outside, as we thought since it was new we would have to line up early for shows. That could change in the future or in the summer as it is a nice 1/2 hour show to escape the heat or rain.

We found ourselves wanting to go back and see antoher show and even see the finale, so that can affect your plans for the rest of the day. We liked that you could watch the show from the huge TV outside of the theater.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Suprisingly Awesome! don't miss it!
Cons:

Before our trip I assumed that we would visit the American Idol Experience no more than one time. The morning of our first day in DHS we lined up with the other patrons and watched some very funny clips on the overhead TV screens (ever watch the "Other Door" clip from AI? it's hysterical). We could see some folks with big video cameras, but couldn't get close enough to see what was happening.

When the doors opened, we made our way to the front of the theatre and got ready for the show. The greeter was very funny, and really excited the crowd. The set was breath-taking and looked just like what we see on television.

The show itself was incredible! we were blown away by the lights, cameras and the raw talent of the competitors. The show is very exciting and definitely worth the time to attend. We enjoyed it so much we rearranged our schedule to attend 7 more times!

Watching the show repeatedly we realized that the show itself is very scripted (the Golden ticket "is like the best Fast Pass ever!) but the talent is authentic. Most surprising to us, the critics comments were sincere and applicable, and indicated to us that this was a legitimate contest.

I absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting DHS - to me it is worth a trip to the Studios alone

Positive aspects of the product (pros): The show is entertaining
Cons: Long day if auditioning

If you are planning on auditioning be aware that your day of park touring can be tied up. You will need to audition, come back for one of the shows, if you make it to the final round you would sing in the last show of the day.

The show is entertaining if you want to sit down for awhile. The shows are popular so you might want to get there early.
