Positive aspects of the product (pros): fun show Cons: seats in the back aren't the best
This is a fun place to have a dinner. It is not my favorite but I am glad I did it at least once. The food is good. It is family style so you will have enough to eat and if there is something you don't like you can just keep going after what you do like. The will bring more if you ask for it. The drinks are good but as always at Disney a little on the pricey side. The seats in the back can be obstructed view, especially for kids. I really enjoyed the different dancers and sometimes they will all come out after the show for some photo ops. This isn't a must do but if you have the chance to see it go for it.

Our group consisted of 10 yr old daughter, 11 yr old son, hubby, and myself. Give yourself plenty of time to get to this resort. We were staying @ the Wilderness Lodge, which is just a stones throw from they Polynesian, but it still took 30 minutes to get there. We had to take a boat to the Magic Kingdom and then a monorail that stops 2 times before it gets to the resort.
We arrived at 8:00 exactly (instead of the recommended 30 mins early), but had no problem being seated.
We had Category 1 seating and were at the table in the very center. Unfortunately, this table also has a post at the very end, so dead center is not the best seat at this venue.
The food is served immediately and is all you can eat. The salad and bread were delicious. Ribs and rice were very good. The chicken quarters were a bit dry. The mini volcano dessert was disgusting. It is supposed to be chocolate mousse with raspberry and caramel sauce. Soda, tea, and house wine are free refills. They have mixed drinks for sale. We had two drinks that totaled $18, and the server automatically put gratuity on that bill. (The dinner was already paid for.)
The story line for the show is cheesy, but that is to be expected. The dancers and fire twirler were very entertaining. This was a nice experience, but not one that we would need to repeat during a future visit.

We went to Spirit of Aloha in March 2009 on the Disney Dining Plan and had category 2 seating. We actually did it the very first night in Disney and I think we did an 8:00 show. It was the perfect way to start our trip. We had a blast!
It is located at the beautiful Polynesian resort in a gorgeous outdoor theater. When we entered, we were seated on the second level and were pleasantly surprised with our seats. We were immediately served fresh bread, that had a tropical flavor and was delicious, along with a big salad to share. There was fruit in the salad, I remember because my daughter ate it all, she wasn't in the mood for salad.
The show started rather quickly and our server was always attentive making sure we had our beer and wine glasses constantly filled. The beer and wine were all included in the price, which was great - after flying that day it was a nice way to relax. Then, the food started to come out: All you can eat Ribs that were so tender they fell off the bone, Barbecued Chicken (an entire chicken), rice, steamed veggies, and more bread too. Everything was so good! I have never seen my kids eat so much food!
The show keeps going on around you and they do a great job of getting the crowd into it. Dessert presentation was fun, the volcano cakes have smoke coming out of them and the servers make a very dramatic entrance with them that the kids thought was "awesome". We thought the volcano cake was very good, the cake was moist and the mousse filling was very tasty. We were pretty full from dinner and didn't finish it though.
The best part of the night is the last 20 minutes of the show - sword twirling guy was phenomenal!! Poles on fire flying through the air - it is a must see at least once!!!
We would definitely do it again!!

What can I say about this dinner show? It was so much fun for me and my entire family. The performers are very good and keep you watching the show. The food was wonderful...the salad at the beginning of the meal is to die for especially with the bread that smells so good and tastes even better. The ribs are well prepared as is the chicken. Just when you thought you couldn't eat anymore...they bring out the dessert in a theatrical way. Servers come pouring out from everywhere with steaming volcanos and it is pretty cool to say the least. If you get the chance, definately check out the luau...you will not regret it.

Fantastic. The food comes out immediately upon arrival and keeps coming. And they bring a LOT of it. Luckily, it is good, and there aren't really any other DW restaurants like it, so if you are bored with the other places, you can come here. The show was fantastic, and enjoyable, and the crowd was into it. It was a bit loud, but one of the highlights of the trip. HIGHLY recommend.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Dancers Cons: Long wait first, bland, bland food
We were a married Canadian couple travelling the first week of December. Eight nights, deluxe dining plan.
This was our second trip to the Spirit show, and this time out we found the food just too bland to be excused. The show's book is as terrible as everyone says, but the dancing is really enjoyable.
Our Cat 3 seats this time were less than ideal, but still worth it. They need to put some ribs/pork back onto the bill of fare. I ended up eating plain white meat, occasionally indulging the sharp but not very falvourful barbeque sauce, and filling up on the (admittedly tasty) apple cole slaw all night. That just didn't feel like a meal.
Like our first time at the show, our server was tops.
Hoop Dee Doo, while far from perfect itself, is still very much the better option.
