Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Delicious addition to Kona Cafe - fresh and wondeful
Cons:
selection limited
The addition of the Kona Sushi bar is a wonderful addition to the Kona cafe. The sushi is top-notch, and the portions are generous. Aficionados will not be disappointed.
You can also order any of the hot dishes from the Kona Cafe at this location. It is often easier to get a seat at the sushi bar, than at the Cafe, so it makes it nice to be able to just drop in for a quick bite.

Location
Cons:
Limited Seating and Hours
On my recent solo trip to Disney I ate at Kona Sushi Bar twice. I was so looking forward to this place and believed that I would only visit once but I so enjoyed myself that I returned for a second time.
On my first visit I sat at the bar with a few other people who were already eating. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Roll and California Luau Roll. At the sushi bar you have both a waiter and sushi chef. I must say that Brian the waiter and Dre the sushi chef were great! I had them both nights and they remembered me the second time. The shrimp tempura roll was excellent. It is served with mago sauce in "white seaweed". Very tasty and very large. The California Luau Roll was also quite wonderful. The addition of pineapple in the crab and avacado was outstanding. I was initially a little nervous about mixing fruit and sushi, but it was great! For dessert I had the banana creme brulee from Kona Cafe and it was excellent as always.
On my second trip I repeated the shrimp tempura roll and tried the Kone Crab Cake Roll. Being from Maryland, known for crabs and crab cakes, I was very exciting to try this. While it was very good, it was not as good as the California Luau Roll. At this time the rolls were both so large that I was unable to eat anything else and was unable to have my beloved banana creme brulee.
Both times I visited the sushi bar Briand and Dre treated me like a princess and were more than willing to do whatever it took to make my experience enjoyable. Sitting at the sushi bar both times, I was able to speak with Dre at length. He was very friendly and willing to answer all of my questions about cooking and preparing sushi. Brian was also very friendly, and made the effort to speak with the girl who was dining alone.
The only thing that I would change about the Kona Sushi Bar would be to extend the hours. At present they are only open 5pm - 10pm daily. While this was an excellent place for dinner, I would have loved to be able to visit for lunch too.
Overall, I loved the Kona Sushi Bar and cannot wait to return!

no reservations required, excellent food
Cons:
limited seating, service is a bit slow
sushi with a tropical flare gives a new twist on some classic favorites, nice cocktails, and have access to full kona cafe menu as well. seemed as though only one server covered the whole area however and this was slow at times: Posted via eTicket

excellent food

limited seating
We visited WDW in the first week of March 2001 and was on the Deluxe Dining Plan so the price mentioned was if we were not on the dining plan. During our trip, I had wanted to try here and on the last night, we had extra dining meals so I did. They have very limited seating but that was ok with me since I was taking it back to our room to eat it on the patio while watching the electric water parade. I ordered the sashimi and the shrimp tempura roll. Both were excellent and you could watch them make it. I have absolutely no complaints and would love to eat there again.
