Positive aspects of the product (pros): An amazing display of what Disney Imagineering can do! Cons: You have to sit down really early to get a good spot (no seats) and the show crowds around the rivers of America block of that entire side of the park whether you are watching the show or not.
This show is amazing! To see the Disney characters come to life all around you with lights, water, dancing, music, fireworks etc. is just amazing, you really feel immersed in the magic! Be aware that if you have small children, the lights are dimmed during the show and it is very dark (you are outside). The show is also VERY loud and there are lots of surprises like fire, lasers, lights, loud noises, villians, smoke and fireworks. The show is really amazing and you will "ooo" and "ahhh" the entire time. The only downfall and the reason that I didn't give it a 10 is the seating. Basically everyone just crowds around the rivers of america. To get a good spot you have to sit down really early (you will see people starting to stake out their spots). And right before the show everyone REALLY crowds in and you have to stand you ground not to get smooshed or loose your good view. It is very difficult to maneuver as the show time gets close an once it is about to start forget about it (you better hope little susie doesn't have to make a bathroom run!). And if you are not planning on watching the show it is difficult to get around this area of the park, and when the show ends it's chaos (of course Disney does their best to control the herd and move everyone out, but keep your kids close and for adult groups maybe make a meet up spot in case you get separated). But this is an amazing show and should not be missed, you will be awe-inspired by the Disney magic!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Best outdoor Disney show Cons: Crowds
The setting along the Rivers of America is a blessing and a curse. There is something cool about the transformation that occurs at dusk. The area that was once Pirate's Lair and New Orleans Square transforms into a huge outdoor stage. The curse is the crowds that this show attracts. Most people stand for this show (there is no seating like the Fantasmic at Disney Studios), but this allows a lot more people to see this show, and adds to the excitement. The show itself is incredible - the use of the ships (Columbia and Mark Twain) are goosebump moments.
It is true that if you want a really good center stage seat, you must arrive hours ahead of time. However, you can get good seats just minutes before the show as well. If you head over to the Haunted Mansion and head towards the river and then walk towards the middle to the entrance of the Tom Sawyer rafts (closed), you can usually get really good views just minutes before the show. There is a mist screen that pops up right in front of you, and you won't miss anything in the show. Also, you available, the 2nd showing of Fantasmic is always less crowded as well. This show is a must do at Disneyland!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Awesome, creative, and inspirational Cons: Long time to stand
To me this is Disney at its best. What seems like a lazy river in the middle of the park comes alive with music, boats, characters, fire, animation, explosions, fireworks and a great story. The first time I saw this show I literally stood with my mouth open for the entire twenty minutes. I have seen it many times since and still prefer it to its WDW cousin. The only caution I have is that there are no seats, and people begin staking out viewing spots up to an hour before the show (although there are lots of good viewing areas). Standing on the hot pavement after walking all day can make for a tough hour. Once the speakers rise from the rocks and the show starts, however, you'll be glad you came! There are some reserved spots with seating for people who purchase a dessert package - probably worth the money if you can swing it (especially if you're with very small kids or seniors). Don't miss it!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Hands down, favorite show at DL... & better than WDW version Cons: Can be hard to get a comfortable spot w/o waiting hours
After several years going to WDW and DCL, we went back to DL for Thanksgiving week so we could see all the new things we have missed out on. We saw WoC for the 1st time, enjoyed Carsland immensely, but honestly my favorite event/show for the entire trip was seeing Fantasmic again! This is a jam-packed show with a great little storyline, exciting music, water effects and man that dragon is cool!! But let me just say, that we tried out the Dessert Party for the first time this year, and ther is no doubt about it... it is ridiculously expensive, and worth every penny in my book! We are ruined now, to go back to the old way of getting place to sit on the ground 90 minutes before is gone... we are going to be doing this from now on. We showed up 30 minutes before, got a comfortable chair to sit in, absolutely amazing viewpoint, and tasty desserts to polish it off! When the ships come around with the characters on them ( and especially when Captain Hook is in a battle with Peter), the ships pass so close to you, you feel like you right on the ship with them! BONUS! At the end of Fantasmic, they let us stay right in our seats to enjoy fireworks, while they kept the hot chocolate coming! This is a MUST DO for every DL trip
