Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great Rooms, with a Disney touch Cons:
Loved our room. Beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable, of course we were asleep before our heads hit the pillows. The Mickey soaps and Mickey shaped shampoo bottles were a great touch, brought several of those home with us.

We had always wanted to stay at DLH just once to get the experience and it was a lovely hotel with lots of character and Disney touches to the room. Room was very nice and clean compared to our experience at WDW hotels, you could tell 'Mousekeeping' were really on the ball. The beds in the room were a little hard and the linen was below par for a deluxe hotel in my opinion. The whole hotel and room felt quite dark and could have done with some more lighting to brighten up the place a bit. There was free coffee in the lobby in the am, however no one told us about this so we didn't find it until our last day. All in all, it was a very nice hotel and I am glad we tried it.

We've had positive experiences every time we've stayed at the DLH. The room decor is cheery. There is a beautiful painting of DL on the TV armoire. Tinkerbell and stars are along the upper edge of the walls. At night as you drift off to sleep, you can see Tinkerbell and the stars glow in the dark. From our experience, the room is always clean.
There are 3 different towers. We've stayed at all of them before. The Magic and Wonder towers are about the same. The Dreams Tower faces Downtown Disney. Surprisingly it is not noisy. You don't hear the noise from DD but if you are in a room high enough, you will be able to see fireworks from your room.
There is free coffee in the lobbies. If I remember correctly, the coffee is available until about 9:30 a.m.
The character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen is good. At this character breakfast, Goofy will lead the kids in a conga around the restaurant. We have encountered both Jasmine and Aladdin at this one.
The grounds are pretty too. If you have the time, walk around the grounds and you may find statues of Mickey and Minnie Mouse or topiary of various Disney characters.
Lastly, if you are fortunate enough to have access to the Concierge service, you will get a very nice continental breakfast, wine/cheese reception, and nightly desserts.
At our last stay, we booked a room with Concierge service and it was worth it. We were there every morning for breakfast. There was fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, pastries, bagels, cereal bars, coffee, juice, milk, tea.
For the afternoon reception, there was wine, cheese, crackers, bread, chips, salsa, and one hot appetizer.
For the nightly desserts, there was an assortment of cookies, rice krispy treats, eclairs, and fruit tarts.
There are also 2 refrigerators on one wall that has bottled water, soda, and juice boxes that you can help yourselves to anytime.
One night, DH and I brought dinner from DD up to the Concierge room so we could enjoy the fireworks as we ate dinner. There's also newspapers, magazines, board games, a TV for the kids. Concierge is also where you can borrow DVDs and bring back to your room.
DLH is far enough from DD that there is no noise but yet only a 10-15 minute walk to DL.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): It's the original!, theming, nice pool, beautiful Concierge Lounge Cons: showing its age, pool gets so crowded there is nowhere to sit, room size can be unpredictable
On our last visit to the Disneyland Hotel, we were placed in a room so small there was barely enough room for two double beds (we were expecting 2 queens). Beware of rooms that share a wall with the elevator shaft!
We have stayed here before, but years ago. We were disappointed by the fact that the rooms seemed to need a renovation, We were also disappointed by the fact that people were allowed to save pool chairs by putting towels on them early in the morning but not arriving at the pool until late afternoon. We felt there should have been more monitoring of this situation since there are very few chairs for the number of people at the pool.
On the plus side, the theming is great, the service was very good and the Concierge Lounge is a fan-tabulous place to watch the fireworks! The room we were moved to was much more satisfactory, with 2 queen beds, which were quite comfortable.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Location, immesion in the "Magic" Cons: Not themed as well as most Disney hotels
Liked staying "on property" here, but expected more. Fine - rooms had Disney touches. Same with the lobby. Pool looked nice, but my hotel key card wouldn't let me in. Goofy's kitchen is a great breakfast spot.
Main reason to stay here for me was to use the Monorail to get back and forth between Disneyland & hotel. Great with the little kids (except for one terrible moment when two exhausted kids & I went at end of the day to Monorail station to get back to hotel, and the Monorail was down!).
Would I like to stay here again? Sure. Is it worth paying the extra cash? Not sure. If staying at a Disney hotel, I'd rather try one of the other 2 next visit. Most likely I'd stay at one of the non-Disney hotels right outside the Esplanade.

Love how easy the self-park is when checking in. It's right at the hotel rather than having to walk a block like at GCH.
Liked Tink's room theming & definitely ask for a room with a view of the fireworks. However, the downside to that may be that you're right near the musicians playing their music with the speakers blasting. Now some may easily be able to sleep through that, but I am not just one of them.
If you have kids, they'll just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the pirate's boat in the pool with a slide. They have 2 pools. One, where most everyone goes, with the slide & hot tub (a little tepid for my taste)& another pool by the sand with the volleyball nets, near the gym & laundry room.
I thought the gym was always stocked with water & towels. Hint, if they're out if towels, look in the cupboards.
The cafe was open pretty early (sorry I forget when it opened) & I appreciated that it has salads in the morning along with all the other breakfast goodies. Room service was yummy & on time in the mornings as requested. Try the bananas foster pancakes.:)
Loved using the monorail to go back & forth from DL, esp with tired fee.
The best part, however, was watching fireworks from the balcony when you're too tired to be at DL.
Overall, I'd say. Stay here if you want to be in Disney Mode ALL the time. Else, you can still stay closer & cheaper on Harbor; though I have to admit I haven't tried it yet.

I had originally booked with a resort view, and got upgraded to a Downtown Disney view and it was great! Bathroom had neat fixtures.

We stayed here when the rooms weren't renovated and they were really musty smelling and outdated. Small and cramped and dark. The rooms are getting refurbed however so if you are going to stay here ask for a refurbed room. Overall was not too impressed - the pool was fun but again it seems like a lot was run down. Did have a lot of Disney feel though, and I love the grounds.

We had a great experience at the Disneyland Hotel. Check in was at the main desk, but we had a special Concierge folder with information about Concierge services and the E-ticket lounge waiting for us there. There was also a personalized itinerary with all of our dinner and activity reservations listed. The cast member checking us in gave each of the kids a signed character picture.
The rooms were lovely. They were comparable in size to deluxe rooms at Disney World...actually, they seemed larger. The floor to ceiling windows gave us an amazing view. We could actually watch fireworks from bed! We were always able to get right on an elevator.
The E-ticket lounge was well staffed and well stocked. We stayed on the 9th floor and the lounge was on the 11th floor, so it was convenient. The first time we came in, Glyndonna came over and explained all the food and beverage services. In the morning, there was oatmeal, cold cereal, pastries, bagels, toast, fruit, and meat and cheese as well as juice, milk, and coffee. In the afternoon, there was "Uncrustable" sandwiches, baked goods, fruit, snack mixes, tea and water. From 5-7 there were hot appetizers (one was vegetarian), cheese tray (the evening one was awesome with brie, blue cheese, gouda, and more plain cheese too), veggie tray, kettle chips or tortilla chips with salsa, water, lemonade, and tea.
They had a fridge of drinks available anytime. It was always stocked with juice boxes, Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, and tomato juice. They had bottles of water in the back, you just had to ask for them. We only took them once to the park, otherwise, the water tasted good from the tap. They also had wine and beer available all day. I saw people get chocolate milk from the back too. Pretty much, anything someone asked for, they had.
We didn't use the services of the Concierge at the desk, but we were always greeted when we walked in. They also called us with park hours, etc.
We enjoyed the entire trip! Our only regret was that it wasn't longer!

We recently came back from a conference and stayed at the DL hotel in the Frontier Tower. The room was your basic room and we didn't request a view or anything but at night could watch all the cars in bumper to bumper traffic trying to leave Disney. Room service was excellent and when talking to Guest Services, they said this was one of their quieter towers. Am planning a return visit in Sept with the whole fam. This will be their first trip and I've requested the Frontier Tower again. There is also a couple tables and chairs set up by a water feature that is really relaxing in the mornings/nights.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great new look, pools, and restaurants! Cons: A little bit of a walk to the parks
On our recent trip, we deicide to try out the DL Hotel, since it was the only official Disney hotel we hadn't done already. it always looked old and dated before... but the new makeover is great! Lobbies, are beautiful, rooms with that cool headboard are awesome, and we absolutely LOVE the new pool and new restaurant in the middle of it (Trader Sam's?)

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for two nights last week (January 15th and 16th). We chose the Disneyland Hotel due to Pete's review on the Dis Unplugged podcast and the opportunity to use the Extra Magic Hours. He really enjoyed his stay, and I hoped we would have the same experience.
We checked in at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday the 15th and were surprised that our room was ready. We had 2 queen beds in the Fantasy Tower with a view of the Mickey's parking structure, and a partial view of Disneyland. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We enjoyed the headboards with the special lights.
We had intended to say only one night, but the morning we were due to check out there was an offer slipped under our door to stay one more night for $135.00. How could we resist?
All in all, it was a great experience. The Extra Magic Hours really helped us enjoy DCA and the new attractions in the park.
