Positive aspects of the product (pros): In the "center of everything, an enterence directly into the California Adventure park. Cons: An available "gate" closer to the Magic Kingdom enterence is shut, forcing you to walk through DTD. Hotel guests should be able to use the shorter route!
A very enjoyable hotel. We stayed at the concierge level and were very pleased with the accomodations! it makes for a very pleasent stay at the DLR. The only "problem" is that we over ate the goodies provided, so the second day we had to cut back and resist the temptation! we are going to say there the next trip!

We recently spent 5 days at GCH. It was our first time on-site at DLR but we have stayed at the majority of WDW's deluxe hotels.
Simply stated, the GCH blows out of the water every WDW deluxe we've experienced in terms of service and the little amenities I appreciate.
We pulled up in our rental car and gave our name to the guard, then drove up to the hotel entrance and there was a bellman waiting who welcomed us by name. Nice touch considering we were not staying club level.
I checked in. Our original requests (day bed and monorail courtyard) were not granted. Day bed rooms were currently blocked unless you had three adults but the nice CM was able to find a monorail courtyard room for us with two queens. It was an issue because my youngest is too big for a pack and play at this point and to expect one of my kids to sleep on the floor ... at those prices, it's unconscionable. I believe they should make the day bed rooms a bookable and more expensive category so they can be confirmed. My DH ended up squishing into bed with two of our young boys and it was ok, if not a little cramped.
Anyway, when our room was ready we headed over. We were on the 4th floor at the very edge of the courtyard so we could see a sliver of DTD. At first I was a bit disappointed because we could see roof below us with lots of abandoned beer bottles - it didn't seem peaceful like the rooms further in but it had two great advantages: just a short walk to the lobby and we had a wonderful view of fireworks from our room. Plus, we could see the monorail, of course!
Room was small (identical in size and set up to those at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge at WDW), but beautiful. Arts and Crafts style is a favorite of mine anyway. Loved the super soft damask rose embroidered sheets, the robes, the full size bath soap (all the bath products were divine), turndown service without having to schedule it ... those little touches are why it seems much more customer service oriented and more upscale than WDW deluxes!
Everyone I spoke to was friendly with a smile. The lounge bar area was a favorite unwinding place but everything about the lobby is gorgeous. Mousekeeping was fabulous. We ate at White Water Snacks and it was only fair, but Storyteller's was fabulous. We had a birthday cake delivered and, though it tasted great, it was decorated plainly and was not the flavor we ordered - the only real glitch of the trip.
The location just can't be beat. So easy for me to run back to the room with our toddler when he got tired or change shoes for Grizzly River Rapids or anything else.
We are picky about hotels and GCH was, all-in-all, a good experience for my family.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Location! Brief walk to MK and Entering Calif Adventure through the back entrance of the park was worth the $$ alone! Cons: Rooms could use an updating. Because of renovations we had a view of scaffolding. Our first room location overlooked the lobby, and was very noisy with a piano player who was there early morning until late.
We visited GC May 3-6 for 3 nights. We got a Senior Discount rate of $250/night, room only and bought our tickets separately. It was a great deal. It was about the same cost if we had stayed concierge at DL Hotel.
We had a blast and the hotel was nice. The lobby was a lot like that of WL at WDW. I would say that it felt a little more deluxe than the deluxe resorts at WDW seem to be. They provided turndown service each night without asking. If you stay here, ask to NOT be located overlooking the balcony. There is a very loud piano player there from morning until late evening. It sounded like he was playing inside our room!!
Location can't be beat. We made several trips to the park from our hotel room each day. It was nothing to walk to both parks.

This is my favorite place to stay at Disneyland. We stayed there for the first time in 2006 and we are hooked! I love how when we enter the grounds or the hotel, there is calm peaceful music playing. We feel that we are really escaping from the crowds and the craziness of the parks. The decor and architecture is beautiful. The rooms are nice. The pool area is great. We love having Storyteller's Cafe and Whitewater Snacks nearby. We love using the entrance right into California Adventure--the only downside is that CA opens late and closes early so we have to use the DD entrance morning and night but we use the CA entrance mid-day. It is convenient to take things back to the room, go back for a nap, go back to charge a camera battery, go back to change into warmer (or cooler clothes), or go back for an afternoon swim. The hallways are long and so you do a lot of walking inside to get to elevators or to get to the exits towards the parks, but we love this resort!

We have nothing but good to say about this hotel. Stayed for 4 nights using DVC points. Thought the rooms were real nice and being so close to the parks was a really great benefit.
Liked the set up of the room. There was ample space in both the room and bathroom. The turndown service was a nice touch. All of the staff was great and helpful, and the special things that they did to make our stay so enjoyable was greatly appreciated.

We LOVE the GCH! From the moment you walk in to the gorgeous lobby, we feel like we have bee 'taken away.' The grounds are lovely as well. We appreciate the close and early entry to DCA.
On the down side, the rooms can be small and some are darker than I would like. We once paid for a theme park view and when we got to our room our main view was of a big tree, but if you looked carefully through the branches you could catch a fleeting glimpse of the theme park!
On the whole we find this a great hotel.

This hotel is the only hotel we stay at since we first tried it. It's proximity to dca & dl are phenomenal. To my dh, it is worth every penny to be able to rest so close to the parks. Plus, you can ride Grizzly Rapids as much as you like & change your clothes right upstairs & be back down & not miss a beat. We always ride it before our afternoon break.
The room service is great & so are its restaurants. I enjoy the morning character breakfast usually on checkout day each trip. You can order off the menu if you don't like the breakfast buffet. I don't care much for the evening buffet, but I don't eat much meat. I think most people like it a lot.
The market is a great place to stock up on goodies the night before if you are planning to get in the parks for the early entry if its 7am. I don't think it opens before that. It may have changed since I last stayed there. Or just order room service.
The pool lounge area beats the other 2 hotels by far in my opinion due to the lounge chairs with cushions. It does have a slide as well. But I hear the slides at the other hotels are better. I don't have kiddies with me so I'm don't know. Poolwise, though, I would think that kids would prefer the other hotels.
Overall, I'd say stay HERE, especially if you go back to the hotel a lot. For me, the hotel experience is as important as the parks.

We love the GCH. The lobby is breathtaking and comfortable to 'hang out' in. You walk in and immediately feel like you have escaped to a different world. The rooms are lovely and clean, however they are small and some can be dark (lots of trees around the property). We find the restaurant here (Storytellers Cafe) to be very good and the option of WhiteWater Snacks is good too. Pools are big with plenty of room for everyone.

I LOVE this hotel! It is by far the best hotel on property. I love the decor and the close proximity to the parks. The lobby is beautiful and the marble work on the floor is amazing. Check in staff are always friendly and helpful!
The rooms feel cozy without being small. I love that the fridge is no longer stocked so that we can fill it with bottled waters and snacks. The beds are comfy. Each room comes with a balcony which is very nice! We sit out on it during our afternoon breaks and before bed.
The pool area is nice. I love that you can hear the sounds of the theme park while swimming or sun bathing. Whitewater snacks is nearby and they have great food for a great price!
If you can afford to stay conceirge level you absolutely should! They really take care of you. The snacks are wonderful and grabbing some water on the way to the park was nice too. Also love that you can check out a disney movie to watch each night before bed.
When traveling to Disneyland this is the only hotel choice for me. I highly recommend it!

We stayed at the GCH for my 40th B-day in a park view room with a lovely view of the Grizzly bear....we could hear all the noise and see all the lights and sights of the park and I loved it! I could have spent the whole trip in the room sitting on the balcony! The rooms were large enough, the pool area is nice (do get there before 1:00 PM in the summer if you want a lounge chair). My parents stayed in a pool view/Paradise Pier DCA view room and it was lovely too. They really liked it!

My friend and I stayed 2 nights at this resort after finding a deal online for two nights at $500. It was a little pricey for us but we were splurging since I was out visiting her and we hadn't seen each other in years. The resort is gorgeous and relaxing without feeling stuffy. When we checked in we had to pay some sort of fee though (we later found out it was for getting a newspaper in the morning and other extras which we mostly weren't using).. the fee was something like $15. Also, some of the rooms are very far from the lobby so prepare for a walk or ask for a room that is closer to the lobby. Our room was a little bit of a walk but we had a GREAT view of California Adventure and the Mulholland drive rollercoaster. We literally were waving and yelling at people on the ride and they would wave back! so fun! The back entrance to California Adventure from the resort is also VERY convienent and would be great for families with small children. The cast members in the gift shop were very sweet and friendly and the quick service cafe was great and had delicious (but expensive) pizza, ice cream, and fruit for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I could put up the cash. While it is expensive, I think it is worth it for a special trip! Loved it!

My best friend and I decided to splurge and found a good deal on priceline.com for 2 nights for $500 to stay at The Grand Californian. We were going to be spending those 2 days at Disneyland anyway so we wanted to have a room close by so we could go back and relax when we wanted to. The best thing about staying at the Grand Californian was the private entrance into the California Adventure park. We had just gotten off the grizzly river ride and were soaked... we headed back to the front of the park to go back to our room.. well, on the way we noticed hey, we can cut through this entrance here and get right back into our hotel! It was awesome! The service was great as well with the valet people remembering our names and greeting us every time. I only ate in the food court/convience shop and it was a bit pricey but that's Disney for you. The pools were beautiful but I did not get to swim while I was there and the spa smelled great everytime I walked by it! I wish I could have used it. The gift shop was nice and the lobby is warm and cozy, I hung out there drinking coffee one morning for at least 40 minutes just taking in the atmosphere.
It is a bit pricey but worth the price if you have the money or want to splurge for a special treat.
I would defintely stay here again.. this resort makes you feel calm, relaxed, and pampered after a long day in the parks.

This hotel is gorgeous and sophisticated. It is perfect for Disney 'skeptics' who want to be awed and feel like they're in the lap of luxury while being a little removed from the craziness. We stayed here with my in-laws who used to think Disneyland was only for kids and was always noisy and crowded. This was perfect - it is close enough to the parks that we never had far to walk, it has very subtle Disney touches, and the staff was awesome. It also has its own DCA entrance that was rarely crowded and made us feel like Disney insiders.
We didn't spring for concierge but were lucky enough to be upgraded to a theme park view; it was beautiful.
The hotel also has some activities and tours that guest can take advantage of, and just sitting in the grand lobby is a great experience.
For us, the only down side (besides the cost) is the feel of the place. For my kids, the DLH is their favorite. It's less 'glamorous' but has a more kid-friendly feel and (in their opinion) a better pool. When we're traveling with just our family, we stay at the DLH, but if you're taking any first-timers or crowd-fearers, this is definitely the place.

We absolutely loved this location. Proximity to Downtown Disney and California Adventure cannot be beat! The pool was perfect for our kids (4 and 5). Just fun enough. If it were more fun we'd never been able to get them away. Housekeeping could have done a better job. Being a family of four, we were a little messy. There wasn't much effort to tidy the room. They did what was needed. You'd expect a little more considering the price.

- You are literally as close as possible to the parks. 3 minutes to Disneyland, and actually with a private entrance to DCA.
- The entrance to DCA is right by the pool - the kids love to be the first on Grizzly river run in the morning and grab fastpasses to it so they can go on and hop right in the pool - also great on a not as warm day.
- Pool is cold when not during summer.
- Pool is great and huge. Lounge chairs so comfy! Great changing area too!
- Huge beautiful lobby and decor everywhere.
- Great restaurant options.
- Awesome activites.
- Concierge is FANTASTIC! Love the food offerings, very friendly staff, dvd rentals, the balcony there is PERFECT for watching the fireworks and they pump the music!
- Over Christmas santa visits and carollers and the carollers do a private show in concierge before the fireworks.
-Highly recommend!!! LOVE staying here!

This is a beautiful place to stay even without DL being right nearby. The entrance to Cal. Adventure is really nice, esp. for getting those WoC fast passes. Nice gym. Beautiful pools, kids love the slide! The best part was the concierge level Craftsman Club, where you get breakfast, tea (i.e., light lunch), happy hour/hors d'oeuvres, goodnight stories/songs for kids, and dessert/cordials. Saved us more than the cost in drinks alone! 
We'll be back -- esp. since we bought DVC points here.

#1516 - handicap accessible (we are all able bodied)
Beautiful room, couldn't find any fault other than it was a little dark even with all the lights on.
We also found we couldn't get an electric kettle for boiling water for tea - we had to boil it in the microwave. They could have supplied a gas kettle if we had been in a 1 or 2 bedroom unit though.
Loved the location, so close to the parks and the resort guest entrance into DCA was fabulous - especially for exiting after WoC.
We also found the pool area very enticing, the pool chairs are very cosy!
Looking forward to our next stay at GCH!

This hotel is well-designed and an excellent example of Arts & Crafts Architecture. The hotel rooms are well-furnished and tastefully designed. This is definitely the hotel for those of you who love your Disney theming to be at full force inside the park and low-key/ subtle in your hotel after you leave the parks. The Disney elements are tastefully incorporated and add to the overall beauty of the resort. The pools are excellent, though there are many times in the non-summer season when it really isn't warm enough to feel like swimming. It is highly convenient having access to Disney California Adventure (DCA) through the hotel- it saves time and makes it really easy to take a mid-day stop at the hotel to change clothes after getting soaked on Grizzly River Run which is located directly across from the Grand Californian entrance to DCA. The location is really unbeatable. Make sure to stop by the lobby and relax in front of the fireplace and listen to the pianist- this was my favorite thing to do during my visit here.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Near parks, pools and great service Cons: expensive
We had a wonderful time at the Grand last week. It's the only Disney hotel with bunk beds and for us it's a must. We have 2 kids (6 and 4) and to sleep with them is hell.
The hotel is huge. This week it was at capacity and we could see the difference. The shops are ok. The rooms are not super large but fine for 4 people. The fridge is a bit noisy and we did find the AC great. It was always very cold even if we had set it in the high 70.
We had some issues with the sink and the service team fixed it in a matter of minutes.
In conclusion yes it's closer than the 2 other hotels but the Paradise Pear is just across the street and maybe it would take you 5 minutes more to get to the parks. You could save a lot of $$$.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Close to the parks! Cons: Nothing!
My husband, his family and I all stay at the Grand in May of 2012. We through it was a beautiful hotel! We loved the feel of everything. The wood work, the art work, every detail of the hotel we loved! We had wonderful service from all the CM's. We arrived early and loved that we could put our bags in storage until our room was ready. This got us a chance to wonder Down Town Disney/ Which I might add is only a couple of steps from our hotel. Now one thing I will say I didnt like as much was our room situation. Which in my opinion was our fault...not the hotels. We stayed in a standard room all 5 of us (ages 20, 21, 23, 48, & 50). We had two queen beds, a sofa day bed, and one bathroom. With the five of us it was a little difficult to share! But all in all I had a wonderful time. Late night after a long day at the parks we would hit one of the hot tubs at the grand which was wonderful! I enjoy myself very much! The only thing I really loved was having the hotel guest entrance into California Adventure Park! Couldn't have been more happy with our choice!
My husband & I are headed back there this April for our DISNEYMOON. Cannot wait to stay at the grand again!
You defiantly will not regret it!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Location, Location, Location! And great restaurants Cons: Price, pool is a little plain
Over Thanksgiving, we stayed in the DVC wing for the 1st time. We had stayed there a few years ago on DVC points, but they hadn't finished the wing yet, so we had a standard room which was OK.. but these DVC rooms are much better. Large, spacious, nice amenities. And the proximity to DTD and private entrance to DCA... absolutely phenomenal.
If I had to pay full$$ instead staying on my DVC points, I probably wouldn't do it, but with DVC, it is well worth the points... just wish they would come up with a concierge offering for DVC

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Location - felt like I was in the middle of it all Cons: candy machine in arcade was broke
We LOVED our stay. I didn't put in a price cause we stayed DVC points.
We stayed in a Studio. Our room was great. Staff very helpful.
The DCA entrance is an over-rated amenity for first thing in the morning. It was way crowded. You are better off walking over to the main gates. It is an awesome perk for the return at the end of the day!
