Positive aspects of the product (pros): Very good food, great show Cons: Strangely, no view of Illuminations
Teppan Edo is your classic Japanese steakhouse, where the chef cooks your meal on a hibachi in front of you. Most of the chefs provide a bit of a show for the table, although some are "all business" and are not quite as engaging. Children usually enjoy the experience.
During recent years, Japanese steakhouses have been springing up all over (I have 5 within a 10 mile radius of my house!). As a result, I think Teppan Edo will suffer by comparison as it is no longer a unique experience.
I also find it very strange that there are no views of the Illuminations show in the lagoon - I really consider this a missed opportunity.

This is just an average hibachi restaurant. The tables are small and cramped and the grill to close to little hands. It is fun, but we eat hibachi at home often.

We've eaten at Teppan Edo twice in the last 12 months -- both excellent meals. Though the chef we had the first time put on a more enjoyable show than the chef we had the second time around, both were very entertaining. The portions are large, and the ingredients are fresh. There are a variety of fun beverages here also (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options).
We are a family of 4, and the restuarant tables are large. While I'm generally not opposed to sharing tables, we've had mixed results at this restaurant, meeting one delightful family and having a slightly awkward interaction with another family (largely due to a sullen teenager in the other party).
All in all, this is a great experience, and the kids in the restaurant all seemed to have a great time. The kids' meail comes quickly and on a monorail-shaped platter, keeping even inpatient young diners from getting antsy.

Hate to be a downer here, but we were not impressed with Teppan Edo on our last visit. When this first opened, it was an amazing experience. At our last visit the chef was mediocre, with not too many entertaining skills. The food was not as good as you might find in your own neighborhood hibachi.
To be fair, I would like to visit again and give this another shot.

We are amazed by how gorgeous this restaraunt is since the refurbishment. We just love the service here and the food is amazing! Even the bathrooms here are beautiful! We love the food here so much that we wanted to eat here again on our trip but couldn't get a reservation, I highly recommend it!

We love this place. The food is always delicious and watching your food being cooked in front of you is a lot of fun. Being seated with other parties isn't a huge deal to us but it can be uncomfortable for some.

This was my son's pick for a place he wanted to return to on our last trip. My son (age 9) loves watching the chef cook right in front of him. The onion volcano is his favorite trick that the chefs do.
My brother had the Miso soup and liked it, but I tasted it as well and didn't care for it.
My steak was cooked a little more done that I would have liked, but still had a good taste.
Overall, we enjoy this restaurant. They were very careful when my husband dined there as he has a seafood allergy. They made sure his food was cooked before any seafood was.

We went for the first time last month and had a great time. The show is very entertaining and we very much enjoyed our dinner. It instantly became our youngest son's favorite Disney restaurant.

Our group of four adults really enjoyed our meal. The entrée servings were nice sized and of Chef kept us entertained while preparing our meal. The apetizers, while good, were small in portion size.
We saw a lot of families eating here and I think most children would enjoy it.
We plan on going back in the future.

DH was heck bent on going to this place on Aug 15...we tried for any meal and it was booked solid..we walked up at 11:30 and there were no openings...DH walked back in at noon and we were seated right away.
We are huge hibachi lovers and are used to getting large portions, shrimp, soup and salad appie and fried rice, plus veggies appie...this place doesnt offer that.
DH had the miso soup, it was awful, way too salty. He had the salad with ginger dressing and loved it.
The iced green tea was incredible and I had 4 glasses.
The white rice was terrible
The noodles with onions and zucchini (very little of it) were ok. No other veggies were given to us.
The dipping sauces were great, mustard, ginger and a lemon butter one for the seafood.
DH had the shrimp and chicken, it was very good.
I had the filet and asked for it to be cooked med rare, it was diced in to teeny tiny bits and way overcooked.
Would no go back, too many other great places in WDW to eat at

I was so looking forward to this reservation. What a disappointment. Before placing our order we were asked at least 3 times if we were using the dining plan. And once you get the food, you'll know why. Serving sizes seemed scaled down. Our chef was nice but unentertaining. The food was not that tasty. I have been to Teppan Edo before when free dining was not going on. It was so much better.

While our dining companions were nice enough, we were more than a bit crowded around the table. I'd never been to a hibachi restauraunt before, and found it a lot of fun. My husband has, said that the chef didn't impress him (because the food wasn't all ready at once), but the food was good. I have a mushroom allergy, they were very careful about doing the mushrooms last on the grill for everyone else. (Had they done them on another grill so they were ready with the rest of the veggies, I suspect my tablemates would have been happier.) The food was good, and plenty of it.

This is a fun way to be entertained while you eat. We all enjoyed the meal. It's not a place for conversation. It's a large room with a lot of cooking stations and a lot going on around you. You will leave smelling like terriaki, but it's worth it.

My husband and I at here at May 9, 2010 for dinner. The hostess informed us they were running slightly behind when we checked in a said there would probably be a 25-30 minute wait. We probably only waited about 10 minutes, however. We were seated with a family of 6 around the grill. The servers took our orders right away and brought our drinks. It took quite a bit for our chef to come out and start the preparation but maybe that was part of them running behind for the night. It doesn't have it on wdwinfo's menu, but you can order a combination plate of filet and shrimp so that is what both DH and I ordered. The show was nice but the chef seemed a little rushed and did most of the same tricks we saw two years ago. All of the food was great however. I love the dipping sauces they give you - the seafood sauce (white and creamy) was my favorite.
We both ordered the chocolate ginger cake for dessert. This was okay - nothing all that special to me. The dessert selection was a little limited.
Overall this was a fun experience. It's very similar to any Hibachi style Japanese anywhere else but it's still very good food, just more expensive. I will say because of the grill right at you, I felt the room was very hot. They could have turned up the A/C to make everyone more comfortable.

We dined on the DDP and chose this restaurant because we hadn't been there since the update a few years ago. Three separate times, before the cook even arrived, we were reminded that the table was hot (duh) and not to touch it, keep children in specific far-away seats, etc. This feels like the Disney Lawyers went overboard and immediately made us all feel rather uncomfortable. I ordered the scallops -- while seared, I felt they were severely overcooked and rubbery. The three sauces were bland and cried for salt. The person next to me had chicken and it was so overcooked she couldn't eat it. I had a piece -- super dry. The presentation was rather humdrum -- I've been to a lot of teppanyaki places and the show really wasn't much of a show. Also -- the lack of a fried rice option, soup and salad being extra (I mean seriously c'mon -- I know how much the soup and salad costs and it's negligible. Overall, I don't think I'll be back.

Teppan Edo was definitely my favorite table service restaurant of my last trip. Yes, we were on the dining plan and this was also our most expensive but I cannot recommend it enough! The food was delicious and the chef was great and truly entertaining. The one negative is that once we ordered we had to wait kind of a while for the chef to come to our table, but once we got our food I totally forgot about the wait. What other restaurants in World Showcase do you get dinner and a show?

The setting was really nice, and the staff is extremely friendly. I have eaten in Japanese Steak Houses all over the world and although I found the food and service on par with everywhere else, I found it strange that Miso Soup and a Ginger Salad were not include as is customary in a Japanese Steak house which adds like $9 to your meal to get a traditional experience. Also one of the other customary items overlooked is a shrimp appetizer, almost every Japanese Steak House serves you a couple of shrimp to kick things off, and the chefs throw them around and stuff like that to set the mood.
The chefs were very nice some were more lively than others but the show was pretty much exactly the same with all of them.
Although after all is said and done I have another reservation next time we go.

The chef was great and we could understand him but the woman that set up our orders was really hard to understand 9 of us 6 adults and 3 kids ate lunch here I enjoyed the beef wrapped around the green onion appetizer and the filet lunch the show is pretty good as far as they go and the food was cooked fine it was not bad but nothing special either 2 of the people at our table had never done the japanese steakhouse grill at the table thing before so thats why we did this overall there are plenty of other places to eat at epcot that I will probably never return to this one

This was our third time eating hear over the past 5 years. We have never had a bad experience and always return here. Once again on this trip food was great and kids were entertained. I ordered edamame this time around for an appitizer and it was great. Kids had chicken with no veggies in their noodles and they ate every bit of it plus some of the white rice. I had steak (medium rare and cooked perfect) and shrimp and it was wonderful. We will return here.

Just a quick review as it seems everyone likes this place. We go to Disney World all the time and spend much of our time at EPCOT. We always go to Teppan Edo. The staff is great and the food is always excellent. The dining entertainment is above and beyond. They even went out of their way to add to our anniversary celebration. We will likely always get a reservation here. We always use the DDP so it really cost us only about $15 or $20 in tip.
Highly recommended.

No salad, no soup, steak and shrimp had 3pcs of shrimp cut up, 5 bites of stead all cooked with oil and no butter. Made the onion volcano which went into the rice cooked with oil and no butter and nothing else. No veggies, no noodles. Appetizer ordered tempura veggies with shrimp (pd extra) ONE piece of each veggie and ONE shrimp. Ordered Ice cream as dessert and got soft serve ice milk (ice with sugar and vanilla flavor). Steak ordered md/rare and it was tough and again cooked in oil with no butter. This was most terrible dining experience we've had. Will never ever go back or recommend. Everyone was nice and smiling as they took our money and fed us a small amt of food and bad quality at that. You'll leave hungry unless you fill up on plain rice with onion in it.

This is the best place we ate in Disney. The food was great, even our VERY picky 9 year old reluctantly admitted he liked the food. The food preparation was fun and exciting, and the staff gave great service. This was everyone's favorite Restaraunt, and the number one place we want to eat at again.
My husband and youngest son are adventurous eaters, my oldest son and I are not. The menu had pretty tame options as well as more adverterous. My kids are now obsessed with learning how to eat with chopsticks for the next time we go!

Diners: Myself (22) and Boyfriend (24) on the Regular Dining Plan (paid ~$20/per person per day; upgrade from Free QS plan with our reservation package).
We dined at Teppan Edo 9/17 with a 6:30 reservation. We waited a few minutes outside to be checked in, and only a couple of minutes once upstairs. We ate with 2 other parties, one of 3 and one of 4.
Diners: Myself (22) and Boyfriend (24) on the Regular Dining Plan (paid ~$20/per person per day; upgrade from Free QS plan with our reservation package).
The good: the server and chef we had were wonderful! Shiho explained our menu, took our orders, etc. She was great, loved the service! Shingo was our chef, and was very playful and funny. Overall, great experience with the staff.
The food was also good - I had the sea scallops (4 large pieces) and Bf went with the steak/shrimp combo. This is in addition to white rice, udon noodles and vegetables (mushrooms, onions and zucchini) and 3 sauces - including the white "yum yum" sauce (which Shingo referred to as 'Japanese ketchup' - truly yummy!)
Bf also tried the Kirin light beer, which he enjoyed (I didn't care for the flavor, but I am also not a big beer drinker). I stuck with Diet Coke
We were both pretty stuffed from earlier meals plus our dinner, so we chose to split one piece of the Chocolate Ginger cake. It was great! It is very light and airy, and the cake is not a rich chocolate as you might think.
The not so good: There is a bit of waiting between being seated, and eating.. something to consider beforehand. The servers will explain the menu to everyone, check in with each party regarding dietary needs/allergies, dining plan eligibility, drink and food orders, explanations of the dinner, etc. Then the chef will come out and explain everything. In our experience, the steaks were the last to be put on. I had the scallops, which the chef put on first, and since they didn't take long to cook, I was served quicker than those waiting on steak.
Also, depending on the size of your group, you'll likely be sitting with others. This could be fine, or you may have some not so great dining partners. We found that at our own, and surrounding tables, the noise and disrespect while the servers were explaining the procedures, passing around cloths to clean hands, etc, was a bit rude. Your milage may vary.
Another potential con may be the portion size. We had eaten a large lunch, plus some World Showcase snacking prior to our dinner, so the smaller plates did not bother us at all, but if you're ravenous, this may not be the place to get a huge portion! Despite the portion size, I found it to still be a good TS value (both the scallops and steak/shrimp are $29.95, plus the cost of soft drinks and dessert). Out of pocket, we paid only $6 for the Kirin beer, plus tax and gratuity.
