Positive aspects of the product (pros): large portions, fast service, beautiful dining areas Cons: food can be hit-or-miss
I am a California native, who currently resides in Arizona, so I am a bit (try hugely!) spoilt when it comes to good, authentic Mexican food! With that said, I will write this review. In my opinion, the best things Rancho has going for it is its absolutely gorgeous dining areas. Dine outside, and be treated to the evocative adobe/wood/wrought iron walls and trellises, landscaping that will remind you of old Western films, and a view of Big Thunder Mountain. Dine inside & be treated to the perhaps hundreds of lovely glass and metal lanterns that hang from the ceiling; they are particularly beautiful at night. The other great things that Rancho has going for it are the size of the portions- a combination platter or salad-in-a-fried-tortilla-shell can easily be shared by 2 people. Soft drinks are refillable, and service is fast. However, if you're used to authentic (spicy!)Mexican food, you may be a little disappointed. But like I said before, I am biased! If you're used to the standard chain Mexican restaurant food, you will probably find the food to be very good or even great. The cheese enchilada platter can be very good (if not very spicy), if you get enchiladas that have just been cooked. Last time I ate there, mine were cold. (Not good!) The beans and rice that come with were good; definitely not like homemade, but what is?!? All in all, Ranch is a good place to eat if you want large portions and a pretty dining area...just don't expect it to be terribly authentic.

I always order the cheese enchiladas here and they are yummy and gooey. Rice is ok, beans slightly better.
The line here gets me every time. I had to wait in two different lines between the a bean burrito kid's meal and the enchiladas. They have ropes up to direct you in the burrito area in two different directions... and other customers just ignore it and would walk up to the service area while a bunch of us were waiting in line as were supposed to and the CMs working would serve them. After it happened several times, people in line started yelling and the CM just shrugged. Then, balancing that tray I had to go wait in a second line ...
We love the rooms with the lanterns. So pretty!

Its a great counter service restaurant that feels like table service. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the food is made right in front of you. Food is served on actual plates with real silverware. The carne asada was tender and hot and served with tortillas. The guacamole is pretty good too! Different stations for food can make it hard when ordering for a big family - so beware that it might take a couple waits in a couple different lines. DH and I easily split the Carne Asada plate and were full. Taco Salad is also very good, shell is a bit oily - but to some who might prefer it, the salad does not come with an additional dressing, only the standard mexican condiments. Outside, an area is available to fill up water (perfect!) and has a number of different hot sauces to bring to your table and spice up your food! Great experience

This is not great mexican food, but it is good food and filling. It is not spicy so kids will like it. The eating areas for this restaurant are lovely and offer a nice relaxing place to eat. There are different food lines depending on what you want to order. If your group is getting food from different stations and one line is longer/slower than the other, then you can have a very frustrating wait while someones food gets cold.

At the end of a long day, off-season, so not long hours (an announcement had just been made that the park would extend operating hours by 1 hour), we found ourselves starving. We bring sandwiches for lunch, then eat at the park for dinner. Several of the other eateries had already closed for the evening, but this was still open. Why not. the 2-1/2 year old had fallen asleep (she was sick, but we didn't know it then), and the 4-month old was also asleep in the stroller. husband and I took turns going through the line - we each got the enchiladas.
They were surprisingly good. Free refills of drinks (keep your receipt - we were asked once to show it). Waiting in line was hit or miss - husband took 5 minutes start to finish, my turn took 20. People were ignoring the ropes & walking straight up to the counter.
We had a super-relaxing, semi-romantic dinner while the kids slept. Husband surprised me and got the cinnamon crisps which were also very tasty. We plan on eating there again for dinner. I suggest you do not plan on the "heavy" rides after eating here!!

I love dining here. After reading other reviews, I do understand the issue with the lines, I have always travelled to Disneyland with unrelated adults, so we are each in our own line, getting our own meals. I have never been asked for a receipt when going back for drink refills, I will keep that in mind in the future. Everything I have eaten here has been delicious. The portions are large enough to share a meal. I love the atmosphere, the bougainvilla blooming all over the trellises during the day, the shining lanterns at night, it is a wonderful respite. I love that they serve your meal on real plates with metal flatware, not plastic. There are always plenty of cast members there to clean up after you are finished. Very nice!

Definitely one of the best dining options at DL! We love the steak burritos. Yum! Yum! Portions are large, and the ambiance is fantastic.
