Positive aspects of the product (pros): Different food for a theme park (and good!), great, cool place to sit in Animal Kingdom Cons: a little noisy
We had eaten at Tusker House when it was a counter-service option at Animal Kingdom. I think we like it even better now as a buffet. It has different food on it than the run-of-the mill Disney buffets, and you can find some really different foods here. It's kind of like a "mini-Boma". The African bread they have here is fantastic. If your kids are picky eaters, they have all the standard kids fare here. However, the adults can find some different options. We really liked it, and will definitely be going back.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Location - lovely cool place for a break Cons: Limited selection on the buffet
Eating at the Tusker House buffet is a convenient alternative to counter service at Animal Kingdom. The staff is friendly and not overly solicitous, and keep the glasses full and the plates cleared.
The food itself is well cooked and nicely seasoned. There are a variety of fresh fruits and rolls and cheeses. However, the vegetables and main dishes are limited in their selection. A number of spices, including curry, are used in the dishes and they may be unfamiliar to guests' palates. While I love to try new foods, I also like to have old favorites for my family in case they do not find food to their liking. This buffet did not have a great variety of food beyond those ethnic dishes.
The dessert buffet is plentiful and made us all happy. It contained at least 8 choices - far more than the entrees or vegetables.
I suggest giving this buffet a try at least once.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Lunch buffet was excelent Cons:
This was a great treat. Lots to choose from. The menu was different the regular buffet options. A lot of unique dishes as well as classic kid food for the little ones. Much better then Crystal Pallace for less Money.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): The food! Cons: Nothing
Excellent lunch buffet. Lots of options including some unique items (but plenty of "safe" things for the kids).

Positive aspects of the product (pros): good selection of food, good theming Cons: slow characters
We had a 9:30 ADR, and were seated within 10 minute of our time. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. Their were plenty of food choices and buffet was stocked.
The only downside to a great breakfast was how slow the characters were that day. We were there about 90 minutes and only saw Goofy. Luckily our kids are getting older and have seen the characters enough on other trips not to mind but if you were a family with small children I think you might have been disappointed.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Wide open eating areas Cons: Not Clean
We at here on our last trip and I was looking forward to it because I enjoy Boma so much.
The rooms are wide open, but the tables are cramped in and it felt like the person sitting behind you was touching your back. The food selection seemed limited compared to Boma. It was tasty though.
But the thing that really made me grossed out was that several of the plates in the clean pile still had food on them (either the front or the back). I went to pick up a plate and my fingers touched food on the back of it and I was grossed out for the rest of meal.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Everything! Cons: It's too darned far from where I live!
We had a seating for just after rope-drop. Our CM seated us as soon as we got there. There was a high school band waiting to be seated, so the CMs made a huge effort to get all the families through the buffet before they released the band kids.
The characters make a great effort to see everyone. The boys had a great time interacting with them. They had taken off to refill their plates when Daisy came by. The CM gladly took my photo with her...and Daisy gave me a kiss on the cheek after I thanked her! It seems silly, but that really made my day!
The food...well, there's too much for us, which is a nice option! The carving station is a little heavy for us for breakfast on a day that is headed for the high 90's, but we sampled pretty much everything else. I was thrilled to see yogurt. That's one thing my boys eat daily at home, but that it's hard to find when you're traveling. Fresh fruit, ditto!
After eating my boys joined in the conga line with Mickey and Donald. What a great memory!
Every single thing about this restaurant is wonderful. I love where it is located- you can send someone to grab a FP for the safari while you are being seated. I love the lay-out. I love the characters. I love the quality and selection of the food. I love how clean the restaurant and even the restrooms are!
This restaurant is a must-do!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): location, type of foods<not burgers>, servers Cons: Disney pricing
We enjoyed the change of food selection, we sat upstairs and had window seats facing the walkways, enjoyed people watching. relaxing time
food quality and pricing weren't too bad for inside a Disney park. food and pricing better at home. I would go back again next visit.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): choices, service Cons: none
We loved our late lunch buffet here. The choices on the buffet were unusual enough while still offering many familiar options. Dishes were replenished quickly for the most part. Food was the right temperature and mostly fresh. We ate and ate and our server remained attentive from beginning to end. I thought I would miss TH counter-service, but this won me over. It will be a must-do for a nice break at AK.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good food Cons: Not the best character interaction
We went here for breakfast last summer and I must say it was one of the less memorable character experiences. The atmosphere of the restaraunt is pretty good. I love the concept of the buffet being set up in pods so you don't have to wait in traditional lines, but it should be explained better because if you do what is intended people think you are line jumping. The characters seemed very rushed and barely spent enough time for a picture at our table. It was just "o.k."

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Excellent food Cons: Seating is a bit close
The lunch buffet is an excellent value for the types and varieties of food offered. Some of the flavors are done "spot on" to what we'd expect. We usually do CS for lunch to save time but this is well worth the "time out".
The people beside us had more than half platefulls of food they did not eat (when they kept going back to get more) and it was hard not to notice since the tables were so close.
If you're not sure you're going to like something, why not just get a spoonful and go back for more on another plate later? That's the beauty of a buffet. It seems excessive to continually leave half-platefulls of food uneaten just because one doesn't pay "extra" for it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): wide selection of foods Cons: tables close together
I have gone to the restaurants on my last 2 trips and enjoyed it very much both times. There is a wide selection of foods to choose from, although they aren't your standard buffet type foods. The African influence in the foods is a nice change from standard buffets.
My one complaint would have to be how close together the tables are. Since you need to get up and out from the table several times at a buffet restaurant, it would be nice to have just a little more space between the tables.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Fantastic Theming; Attentive Staff Cons: Tables seem close together
This was our second visit to Tusker House for 2 out of our party of 4. When the original ADR was made, it was for 3 people, but my 19-year old Godchild decided to join us on our trip at the last minute, so now we were 4 adults.
When I called Disney Dining to modify the reservation, they told me there would be “no way” the restaurant would be able to accommodate us since they were totally booked for 1 p.m. That seems to be a popular time because you have the option of getting tickets for “Finding Nemo - The Musical’s” 3:30 p.m. show. By getting these tickets, you by-pass the regular line for the show and use a separate entrance with special seating – a nice perk, and we desperately wanted to take advantage of that option. I decided not to cancel the reservation and to take our chances when we got there hoping there would be a table that could accommodate all four of us.
When I approached the podium, they were very accommodating and told us one more person would not be an issue. For a restaurant that was full, it did not seem that bad because there were dining rooms around the “market place” (buffet) that made it seem comfortable. We waited only a short time, maybe 5 – 10 minutes for our 1 p.m. reservation.
The food at this restaurant, in my opinion, is absolutely, incredibly amazing. I think I could live at the Salad Bar. My favorite was the Tomato and Cucumber Salad with fresh mint and yogurt dressing. The Tunisian Couscous Salad, Green Bean and Onion Salad came it a very close second. The Main Entrees of Carved Beef Top Sirloin Roast and Pork Loin were cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. If you like Salmon, the seasoning they use to marinate it is absolutely fantastic. There was also Chicken cooked over an open fire that was also very nicely prepared. I think between the four of us we tried every vegetable and side including the Yukon Gold Potato Wedges, Orzo Pasta, Pearl Couscous with Sweet Basil.
In the center of the Marketplace was the dessert table loaded with assorted Pastries and Cakes, Cookies and Brownies, Bread Pudding with vanilla sauce and Whole Fruit. There was something that looked like a “7 Layer Bar” that was an absolute hit with all of us.
You have to realize my sister and I were traveling with our Mom (83) and my Godchild (19) both very picky eaters and they thoroughly enjoyed their meal. This is a must stop every time we visit Animal Kingdom.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good buffet, characters are top notch Cons: none
So far, my favorite spot for Character breakfast. Had Jungle Mickey, Donald, Goofy & Daisy. Had kosher meals reserved, and the Cast Members were flawless in delivering the goods. Kids had a blast dancing with the characters. Great kosher chocolate soufflé. I'd take this place over Crystal Palace any day.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great food and service. Fresh and tasty buffet selections Cons: none
Nicely themed setting, very friendly and engaging staff. Our waiter was so fun! He made fun of the girls (3 tweens) and me. He was attentive and available but didn’t hover or rush us in any way.
Oh yeah, the food – GREAT! By the end of lunch the girls were sold on hummus and ate it every chance they got for the rest of the trip. Our other favorites: the orzo, samosas, salmon, tofu and chicken. I thought the tomato and cucumber salad was light and refreshing. Everything was made in small batches and replaced often to keep the selections fresh (a real challenge for buffet meals).
Note – lots of choices for kids but as an adult if you don’t like ethnic food you may not enjoy this restaurant as much as we did. That said, this was the only buffet lunch/dinner of 3 during our trip where the girls got up for seconds.
In my humble opinion, the Warm Banana-Cinnamon Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce is second only to Ohana’s bread pudding as the BEST dessert on WDW property. If I could’ve snuck the pan out, I would’ve taken it back to my savannah balcony at the lodge and come out only once my dessert coma subsided. It was THAT good.
We dined here as part of the Finding Nemo package and this was the best choice we could have made. Worth every penny. We had delicious food, great seats for the show, and WONDERFUL service. This restaurant exemplifies the Disney experience.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Spacious Cons: Unfriendly Personel
We are here last year and I was so disappointed. I was really looking forward to dining here. We were taken to a table in the back of the resturant, which wasn't an issue, but I felt after that, that we were forgotten about. We rarely saw our server once she (finally) brought out the drinks. The buffet food was fair, not bad, not good either. Most of the food was not appealing to us, so we asked for a second slice of meat, and you would have thought that we asked for a million dollars. The person behind the carving board gave us such a sour look and for a minute I thought he wasn't going to honor our request. He finally sliced us a second piece of meat, and made it so small. I was not impressed with this place and I do not want to go back.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Food and Service Cons: nothing
The food was great. A nice selection of choices that even our children, 8 and 10, appreciated.
The service was even better. A few minutes after we left my wife realized she left her camera at the table. As she was running in one door to go back and get it. Our server was running out another door to find us with the camera in hand.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good food, lots of choices Cons:
We actually preferred Tusker House over Boma, it was a bit more spread out and easier to move. Excellent food, plenty of it. The staff was great. A definate one for the list for next time.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Excellent lunch buffet, excellent service Cons:
I was the hit of the lunch party for making reservations here. There was something for everyone and it was all delicious. The banana bread pudding with vanilla sauce is heavenly. The service is excellent. The plates for warm food are heated, nice touch, everything stays nice and warm on the way back to your table. Gorgeous ceiling decorations in buffet room. Don't be afraid of the "African flair" to the food either, even not-so-adventurous eaters will appreciate the cuisine. Awesome hummus! Desserts are in just-right portions for trying several.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Theming, variety of food. Cons: Noise level, seasonal pricing.
My husband and I dined here for dinner on 12/16/09. We had ADRs and were seated ahead of time, as we checked in 10 minutes early. Our server Rebecca was pleasant but scarce, though I didn't expect too much as it is a buffet. We were on the DXDDP so we didn't have to worry about pricing, although I did notice the seasonal price hike. My husband loved all the buffet had to offer, while I only cared for the prime rib and a few desserts; the sides did nothing for me personally. The restaurant was at half capacity while we were there (likely because it was evening EMH), but still very, very loud. My husband claims it was one of his favorite meals of the whole trip, and I wouldn't have a problem returning, though it wouldn't be my first choice.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Very large selection of the buffet something for everyone Cons: Long wait even with reservations
Ate there on the DDP, and was really happy. Although we had a reservation we had to wait like 15 minuets, but it was ok there were plenty of seats and went to the bar around the corner and had a drink so not a big deal. The food was amazing from PBJ and macaroni for the kids to carved meats and seafood dishes for the grown ups something there for everyone.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Many food choices, nice layout at the buffet Cons: none
We visited WDW for the first time as a family in June of 2010 for the last Star Wars Weekend. During our visit we enjoyed Character dining several times, but "Donald's Safari Breakfast" at the Tusker House was very enjoyable.
There was a short delay when we first arrived, but we were quickly moved from "station to station" after checking in by cast members as they staged us for a picture with Donald Duck. Our initial feeling was much like that of an assembly line and we felt somewhat pushed around at first, but by the time we were seated by one of the cast members our concerns were relieved. We found the buffet to be easy to navigate and its location and layout reduced traffic and crowding.
The meal was excellent and the selections were abundant. It appeared that even if a visitor had severe dietary restrictions that a good selection was still available.
The characters made their way through the tables and we had several photo opportunities with them.
If anything could be considered a "con" (although I resist listing it as such) it would be the initial photo with Donald. When I attempted to hand my PhotoPass to the photographer I was told "We've got this one taken care of for you." About half way through our meal, I return to our table with more eggs for my youngest and found a cast member showing my a packet of pictures. Of course, these photos were printed and ready to go, and we would not have access to these pictures on PhotoPass unless we purchased them right then. I felt that after investing $3000+ in our vacation during peak season, purchasing the PhotoPass, DDP, etc. that poking us for another $30-$40 was down right shameful. In the end, I of course paid for the pictures.
Overall, our experience was a good one, and when we return to WDW in 2011, we'll surely make this breakfast a part of our experience again.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): not busy near closing time Cons: food and service
We were seated very quickly even on Christmas Eve. The food was not very good...but to each their own. Probably would have been better if we liked the type of food on the dinner bar. I decided to go here after reading the reviews online; however, most were for breakfast and not dinner. Our waitress must have been bored because she stood at the table and talked to us for about 30 mins while we were trying to eat. We are gonna give it a 2nd try in June but for breakfast.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Characters, Good Food, Get in Park Early Cons: None
Dec. 2010 - 2nd time here for breakfast. Nice to have breakfast 8am an hour before park opening. Good photo opportunities on the way to Tusker House without other people in the background. Food is pretty good. Great place for breakfast, but if you are just coming here for characters, the same characters were at Mickey and Minnie's Greeting Trail in Animal Kingdom Park. If a busy time of year, sure beats waiting in line though.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Fantastic food, great atmosphere, it's on the dining plan Cons: Too many delicious choices!
This was one of our favorite meals of the trip. My BF originally wanted to eat at the Yak and Yeti, but I stuck to my guns and made this lunch reso.
The buffet room is gorgeous! It's big and open, and there's plenty of room to walk around and scope out the incredible selection of food. As an African themed buffet, they definitely did not disappoint. And even the picky eaters can find something they enjoy as well.
The waiter was friendly if a little scarce, but she cleared our empty plates as soon as we finished and refilled the drinks, which is all you need at a buffet. We will definitely go back!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good food Cons: Way too long of wait for characters, have to purchase pic with Donald
The food is good, but that is really all the positive I can say.
Was told by the waitress that the characters would be arriving in 10 no more than 15 minutes. Waited 45 minutes before the first character came to the table. Big turnoff with having to purchase the picture with Donald for over $30. CM took a picture for me for free that looked just like the one the photographer took. With the cost of the meal, this should be included like it is at Arkershus.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): the food is ok Cons: slow process, rude CMs, poor management
I came in to Tusker House sometime around the first week of the character lunch, and i felt this was a lunch i would probably regret doing.
To begin, when i accidentally walked up the ramp, a cast member rudely told me to take the stairs. Then i went in line for the photo with Donald which was more aggravating since the same cast member who told me to go up the stairs had everyone move forward in an almost scolding manner. When i finally got to donald, the photographer told me that donald does not sign any autographs at all, and since he noticed my sunglasses, him and his other photographer insisted on having me remove my glasses.
After waiting almost 30 minutes for an available table, i was finally able to go in. The one saving grace about the lunch was the food. Unfortunately, that was the only thing, because the characters were practically rushed. When i finally finished, i tried to speak with the manager about my terrible experience, but a coordinator from Ohio who was there was not kind and kept telling me to wait, but when one of the managers (whose name escapes me, but if i remember well, she was from Navasota, TX) spoke to me, instead of apologizing, she just gave me the generic "sorry about the poor service" cliche which i have heard one too many times and just went back inside.
To conclude, the food was great, but the only way that i will be able to return is if they get rid of the staff who are absolutely uncaring and rude. Until then, i would take my chances dining at Rainforest or at the counter service eateries such as flame tree or pizzafari.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): The breakfast food, the JUICE and the characters Cons: the WAIT - even with a reservation
We arrived in time for our reservation but went through a horrible, long waiting process. We waited about 25 minutes to have a picture taken with Donald Duck (at least the photographer also took a shot with MY camera so we wouldn't have to go broke buying the picture from the photographer.) We then waited for the table for another 10 minutes or so. We were seated and had to wait for our server for a few more minutes to take our drink order before we could go to the buffet. Once the 'waiting process' was over, it was all good. Our server was courteous and friendly. The juice (a mixture of guava/passion fruit and orange) which sounds gross, turned out to be surprisingly delicious! The food is also very tasty. We enjoyed our breakfast thoroughly at this place. Characters kept coming to our table...we took pictures with Goofy, Mickey, and Daisy Duck. If you make a reservation here, I would suggest coming earlier than the time you reserved to get the waiting out of the way and be able to eat at your reserved time.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Character Interaction Cons: Smelled like feet, poor service, just ok food
We ate here for lunch back in October 2012. I have also had breakfast here in the past as well. Breakfast is much better than lunch. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes past our ADR to get seated. The server was also very slow getting drinks, refills and clearing off dirty dishes. We had a child with us that has food restrictions that ended up having to wait until after we all were finished eating before he got his soy icecream. The big problem with this restaurant was that it smelled like feet. I have no idea where or what was causing this but it was hard to eat with the smell of stinky feet. I don't know if they had a mold problem but it was pretty bad.
