When I think of Animal Kingdom, I think of the ANIMALS, as do most people. What I love about the safari is it's a fun way to see the animals. Disney has created a wonderful ride combined with a wonderful animal watching experience. I love how each time we ride it we have an entirely different experience because we see something new every time, different interactions, etc.
The lines for this can be SUPER long so we always grab a fast pass for it so we don't wait. I couldn't imagine going to Animal Kingdom park and not riding this ride. Fun for the whole family!

The Kilmanjaro Safari is a great way to see animals in a more natural setting. I would definitely try to ride as early as possible during the day or as evening approaches given that many animals find shaded areas during the heat of the day. On cooler days, more animals are out and about!
The only negative is for anyone who suffers from back or neck problems, this ride gets pretty bumpy. It often sets off a headache for me, so I usually take some Tylenol about 1/2 hour before riding.

This is a great way to see animals without walking around a zoo. You get to see some interesting animals that may not be in your local zoo and more in their natural habitat. Just wish they would change the premise of the ride away from helping them save the elephant and more on the animals themselves

The ride on the safari can be a little fast, but the drivers take great care to respect the animals habitats. We've seen a much greater variety of animals recently than in the past, and the whole ride really has the feeling of traveling in the bush.
Parents will want to hold tight to little ones while seating them to the inside of the cars

This was my favorite ride at Animal Kindgom untl the new roller coaster came along. The first time I rode it, I raved about it for weeks to people because it is such a unique experience. It's great for the kids and the adults, and offers a unique opportunity to see african animals in a native type environment, as if you were indeed on a safari.

Really incredible attraction. Really gives you the feel that you're on the African savannah and not in the middle of Florida. Being so close to these exotic animals that they can actually block the road is a bit of a thrill, and their "spontaneity" of live animals makes every ride unique. My only complaint is that they never stop long enough for people to take pictures. I definitely understand why (the lines are long enough already!), but I'd love more time here and I hope to do one of the special safaris offered here someday.

If you ride first thing in the morning this is a great attraction. The animals are awake and attentive and you have a chance to really have some original experiences.

A hugh lifelike African Safari. Awesome ride vehicles. Guides/castmembers are a large part of the show. A good one can enhance the attraction even more. A not to miss attraction!

Load up on a BIG jeep and trek through the african plains. Although this is an exotic animal tour, it does have a plot, we're looking for poachers!
The landscaping is beautiful and the animals are too! I love the upside down trees.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great theming, Interesting and informative. Cons: Animal sightings are luck-of-the-draw but not much can be done about that. It's nature!
This is a 'don't miss' attraction and is really a different experience every time you ride, since the animals you see are luck-of-the-draw. Go early in the morning for a better shot at seeing many of them out and about. Very well done.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Best ride in Animal Kingdom Cons: The story needs to go
Here is one of the few examples where the story actually hurts the ride a bit. The ride would be a 10 without the whole "Poacher" story. The story takes away from the purpose of the ride which is to see animals living in their "natural" habitat.
With that said though the ride is still a must do and is still the best ride in the Animal Kingdom.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): theming Cons: a few changes
Animal Kingdom prides itself in that it's Nahtazu!!! Dispel any notions you have about AK being a zoo, or this safari being similar to any drive thru zoos/safaris you have seen. It is quintessential Disney, with storyline and theming right from the start of the queue.
A few criticisms I have are directed towards some of the changes from the original: the poachers jeep never seems to work, and that helped make it "Disney." The scene with Big Red is soooo pared down now, without a live actor.
Other than that, great ride.

I'm not at all crazy about the story line they try to force in to the ride, but it is a nice experience. Great time for photos (but only if you are on the correct side of the vehicle. If not you only end up getting pictures of animal butts.). Once was enough for me.

Trekking through the forests and savannah looking for animals. One time a giraffe may walk right up to the vehicle, while the next time they all seem to be keeping their greatest distance from you. In the Florida heat, many animals aren't interested in significant activity, so we always try to go early in the day or after a rainstorm has cooled things off a bit.

To me, the safari is the signature attraction at Animal Kingdom. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the animals in an environment that is as close to their natural habitat as possible. It's also fun that it's a new ride every time since you never know what animals you'll see. I've seen a baby elephant, an elephant taking a bath, a baby giraffe, and all sorts of other neat things on different trips on the safari. In my opinion this is a must see!

When you think that Fl swamp land was converted into a safari...it is amazing. We have done the Sunrise Safari ride and early in the morning you see all of the animals, even the lions. What amazes me is the intellect of those who dream these things and those who can make it come real. Each ride is different and you see different animals. Get a fast pass...don't wait in line...

This is a one-of-a-kind experience, unless perhaps you get to San Diego. Driving through a well themed savannah looking out for animals is quite fun. We've ridden enough that I'm now able to really observe how much work went into transforming Florida into an African wildlife reserve. The truck is bouncy and too fast, and we often thing the tour guide sounds rushed and is hard to hear. The Big Red/Little Red story is cute, but not really necessary. The elephants are particularly easy to spot. Otherwise, ride in the morning or on a rainy day to see the most animals.

This ride is a great way to see animals in a different way instead of the typical walking from cage to cage like you see in most zoos across the country. The only thing is if you do decide to go on this attraction then I would suggest taking it first thing in the morning. Get there before the long lines do so you won't have to wait forever and you will get to see more animals before it gets too hot in the day and they are lying down in the shade.

Kilamanjaro Safari is still the marquee attraction at Animal Kingdom despite the addition of Expedition Everest so plan accordingly.
Every attraction at Disney tells a story. There is one here, too, focused on elephant poachers but if feels a bit throwaway. In fact, I'm not even sure the baby elephant that is rescued at the end, Little Red, was even mentioned on my Safari last month?
The animal habitat is incredible. The only issue I have is that the wildlife sightings are inconsistent. You'll probably catch of glimpse of everything but up close and personal, this ain't.
An always enjoyable ride but when it comes to Safari attractions, I prefer Rhino Rally at BG in Tampa.

If you like animals, you'll like this trip. I don't really like animals much so the ride was ok. The bummer is that the animals I hoped to see were apparently sleeping away from the trail. On those humid days in Orlando, it's also a bit of a pain to be riding in this hot truck.

The lines can be kind of long, so get a fastpass or go during lunch, when the line can be shorter. I like sitting in the last row, but really, all the seats are good.
