Expedition Everest is one of the most exciting rides on WDW property. From the detailed theming to the fast moving queue to the smooth and exciting ride, it's a winner in all categories.
The ride is unique in that at least some portion is spent looping backward through the dark. The rider also experiences a thrilling sighting of the enormous Yeti, swinging away at you in the dark!
Don't forget the Single Rider line (but also walk at least one time through the queue - just to see the awesome artifacts)

WOW! This is an AMAZING ride. From the theming of the cue, to the ride itself. I LOVE the Yeti, he's amazing to see close up on the ride, the track goes out and you go backwards, INCREDIBLE! This ranks in our top 5 of Disney attractions. If you are a roller coaster lover, then don't miss it.
You want to get here early or grab a fast pass for it, since it is so awesome crowds do flock here.

Expedition Everest is the pinnacle of Disney Imagineer storytelling. The queue line sets the stage for your trip up Everest. As you board the train up the mountain you actually move from the forested landscape to the snowy, cold peaks of Everest. The ride is smooth, but there are some surprises along the way. I have to admit, the first time I rode, I totally had my eyes closed most of the trip. After knowing what to expect, more or less, I rode with my eyes wide open the next time around!
This is a do not miss attraction in Animal Kingdom and everyone else knows that too. It often has really long lines, so a FastPass is the way to go. However, by FastPassing the line you miss all the great storytelling, back story, and artifacts found in the queue line. So, try to wait in the queue at least once. The time will go by much faster than you'd expect given all that there is to see.
It's the best attraction in Animal Kingdom, so get there early, ride, and grab a FastPass for later.

This is a great addition to the animal kingdom. It give you a wonderful view as you climb the mountain. The surprise of going backwards its a great twist.

I love photo ops in the regular line. Dh and I are in the fuller figure range and still fit comfortably. Dh is over 6'5" and a 4xl and has enough leg room. The most disappointing thing is that the past year or so---the yeti has not be in A mode.

This is one of the best rollercoasters I have ever ridden, it may not have loops, but its a smooth and enjoyable ride (unless you ride it in the pouring rain, as then the rain hurts)

A great addition to the parks. This is a fun, family friendly coaster. Just exciting enough for adults and just slow enough for younger kids. The Yeti (when working) is amazing and the coaster ride itself is excellent.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Possibly the best rollercoaster ride, by far. Cons: That the yeti is not always working.
Love this attraction. The surprises that await around almost every bend or stop are great. The only problem is that the yeti AA is so complex that it is not always working as it is suppose to, and as I understand it, to fix it would mean a very long down time for a ride that is very popular right now.

Expedition Everest is my hands down favorite ride in Animal Kingdom. The themeing is phenomenal, from the amazing que to the Gigantic Yeti swiping at your train. This ride is spectacular! One thing I love about it is the fact that is so smooth my 70 year old parents could ride it without a problem. This is a wonderful addition to the AK. One tip is if the line is long try the single riders line. Your party will have to spilt up but it will cut your wait down considerably.

Once you enter the queue, you loose time while your interest is drawn to the story line build up and theming. While the wait is usualy long, you don't realize it.
The ride seats were comfortable and felt safe and while the ride starts slow, it build up quickly. The panoramic views of Animal Kingdom are wonderful once at the top of the mountain. Once your car raches it's full speed, it is a sensory overload. Some of the great special effects are lessoned due to the darkness and speed at which you pass by. I LOVE this ride but wish that the climactic Yeti scene could be viewed just a tiny bit slower.

From the moment you see the mountain, you are drawn to it. The waiting area is full of artifacts and objects to keep you interested no matter how long the wait. The ride is well crafted and satisfies those who can't handle more adventerous rides in other parks. Truely a "don't miss".

I had a lot higher expectations from this when it opened than what I got. I expected a highly themed coaster, similar to The Mummy, one of my favorite coasters at Universal.
If you've ridden both this and The Mummy then it'll be no surprise that I was disappointed with both aspects of the ride. The coaster itself is about as exciting as something at a fair. Sorry, going backwards isn't cutting edge anymore. There's also no negative G's and no big drop, just going around and around in circles.
The highlight is, of course, the Yeti. He's the biggest and most technologically advanced animatronic Disney's ever made. Too bad he only worked for the first three months the ride was open. Now, for over two and a half years, he stands still as a strobe light flashes on him, indefinitely broken. Even when he did work it was but a couple of seconds that you saw him as you zoomed past. Again, if you've ridden The Mummy you'll understand why I expected a little more.

Excellent ride! I'm a coaster enthusiast, and while this one doesn't have some of the bells and whistles found in most modern coasters (loops, etc.) this is one of the best coasters I've been on. Very smooth ride, something that's always appreciated, and the scenery around the track is so beautifully detailed. The animatronic Yeti is amazing. The queue line is very impressive too. Oddly enough, this is a ride where I actually wish the line moved slower. Every time I get toward the end where all of the yeti paraphernalia is, I wish I had the time to really look at and read everything, but I can't do it without holding up the line!

Fun, thrilling roller coaster. The attention to detail brings it to the next level. It has its surprises, but, unfortunately, this includes the fact that the Yeti doesn't work, and is almost impossible to see in its stationary state.

What a great ride. Another perfect example of what disney does best. The appearance of the mountain itself is incredible! The queue theme is amongst the best of any queue in all of WDW, as the entire attraction tells a great story.
Guests looking for Six Flags - style super coasters may find the actual ride tame ... no huge gut-wrenching drops, no inversions, etc. But I - a roller coaster fan - could care less. The overall experience is amazing and is not to be missed.

I had hoped for a lot more from Everest when I finally was able to ride it. While the que and themeing are probably the best only topped by ToT the coaster itself just seemed too short. Add to that the fact that the Yeti was an animatronic that Imagineering bit off more than they could chew with and is barely seen anyways...and I was just left with a lot of 'what might have beens'.

One of the best attractions Disney has to offer. Great theming, a thrilling ride and not too many long drops like typical roller coasters. I generally don't do roller coasters but I can take this one. And the YETI at the end is unbeleivable.

When we visited A.K. for the first time in 2005, we saw the very beginnings of this ride being built. We were there the next year about a month after it opened and got in line. The Queue is incredible and full of things to look at. You can tell that a whole lot of time and planning went into the theming of the areas around the ride, and you really feel like your at base camp in the Himalayas.
The ride itself is great, thrilling but not so intense that it would scare the average child.
The Yeti is so life like and really adds to the ride experience.

I set foot on WDW property proclaiming that I wasn't a fan of thrill rides or roller coasters. Then I went to Animal Kingdom, and rode Expedition Everest.
My friends and I got off the ride, and one friend and I went back to get a FastPass for later. Wandered the park some more, and decided to sit on the stones outside the ride while my friends went to see the tigers on the jungle trek. They took a while, and I ended up going through the single rider line while I waited for them.
My friends re-joined me, and we rode again. This time, I took my camera out to see if I could get a picture of the park from the top of the ride - it really is a fantastic view.
When we got off the ride and remembered that the single rider line was practically walk-on, we went through again.
I never would have thought I would have had so much fun on one ride, let alone want to experience it four times in one day.

This is possibly the best ride I have ever ridden. I have gone on a lot of different coasters and this is by far my favorite. If you go during extra magic hours in the morning and use your fastpasses right you can ride this at least 5 times in the first hour. I did. This is a must do! This ride makes the Animal Kingdon a park worth stopping at by itself.

The coaster itself is pretty cool. The theming leading up to the ride was done very well. But unfortunately there was so much lead up to this "great Yeti" animatronic which is supposed to be the latest greatest technology and after being open for a couple of years now still doesn't work and is in "mode B".

This is the type of ride that sets Disney in a class of its own. The theming is fantastic in its details as you wind your way through the cue to the ride. The ride itself is exciting and just scary enough for a good thrill.

It would be a 10 for me if it didn't go backwards. A great, thrilling ride but if riding backwards makes you feel weird, you will want to skip it or at the very least, close your eyes.

I've never been a big rollercoaster guy, but I could go on this one over and over (and thanks to a dream fast pass and the single rider line go to do once). The only problem is that it is really the best out of not much of a field of rides at AK, so everyone flocks there, making it pretty hectic. My 5-year old even rode it twice, it's that much fun! Then we had Mickey bars to celebrate our bravery...

I love this ride. The theming is beyond great and the ride is a blast. One of the best views of any of the parks comes when going up the large hill to start the ride. Everything about it is great except the length. It could be a bit longer.
