Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great animatronics Cons: Relies on hokey devices for scare factor
Dinosaur is one of my least favorite rides at WDW - if only because I believe it could be so much more fun..... This ride is very reminiscent of the wonderful Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland, with a nice attempt at theming and decor. It falls flat with its heavy reliance on strobe lighting and loud roars to scare riders. I'll ride it once every few years, but it is no surprise to me that it is not hugely popular. In my opinion, not worth the walk to ride it....
Definitely not for young children or those affected by strobe lights or overly loud noises. The ride in the cars is rough, but while this adds to the experience in Disneyland's Indiana Jones ride, it is simply annoying at Dinosaur.
Ride it once for the experience, but don't go out of your way..

Our family really enjoys this ride, it's not our favorite, but we do visit it every time we are at Animal Kingdom. I was worried for my kids who rode this at the ages of 4 and 7 but we prewarned them and told them the dinosaurs were fake and they made it through. We thought it was a fun ride, cute preshow and theme and that the animatronics of the dinosaurs are great! Of course it is intense for younger riders, you just have to know your child- yes, dinosaurs will jump out and scare you, adults do scream on this ride, but it is all in good fun. We love it because the lines are never too terribly long, especiallly in the morning, fast pass is offered though. Fun ride!

The castmembers seem to rush boarding. It is a tight fit for tall, large size people. The vechicle seems to jerk too much and the effects have gone downhill in the past 5 years.

I really enjoy this ride, they do a great job getting you into the 'action'. The ride itself is pretty rough, but the overall theme of the ride and the action on the ride are excellent.

This attraction is very bumpy. Not good for people with long legs. I received a few bruises on this ride and don't remember too much about the dinosaurs. Eyes were closed - a little scary even for adults (or weak-minded adults

Positive aspects of the product (pros): the theming, the story Cons: wish it were longer.
This is the kind of attraction that from beginning to end (including the QUEUE!) Disney immerses you in theming and the "story." The queue looks and feels like a museum, the preshow area is like a mission briefing area, and the actual ride delivers in effects and entertainment. I like this formula for WDW attractions, and this is a wonderful execution of that.

The first time I rode this, I thought it was a VERY cool ride and really enjoyed it. My son absolutly loved it. My daughter, not so much. The more I rode it however, the less I liked it simply because it does jerk you around a lot, and the screaming dinos are VERY loud (not recommended for small children).

We decided to try this ride since we love the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland and Dinosaur is on the same "track" with different theming.
Well, we were very disappointed. I don't mind the Dinosaur story line, but it didn't make sense why our vehicle was lurching and knocking us around. And the big dinosaur at the end scared a bunch of kids in our car.
It was good to try it once, but I wouldn't ever want to wait in line for this one, and now that I've experienced it, I'll probably skip it the next time I go to AK.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Truly frightening and exciting. Cons: Young children really should not ride. Scary stuff.
I'll never forget my wife's face when that dinosaur charged the vehicle. Hilarious. This is one of our favorite rides because of how truly exciting and surprising it is. Very well done. I wish it was still called "Countdown to Extinction" though.

Dinosaur is the only reason I go near Dinoland USA in Animal Kingdom. The cue and preshow is very good, and even the storyline is worth the trip. The main problem is that the ride is just so stiff and awkward. Those with stiff and sore muscles will be looking for the nearest bench after they exit.

This is a great scary ride. Fantastic dark ride, it's jerky, it's fast and did I mention it's scary?
This is a must see, one of my all time favorite rides in Orlando.
It's worth noting that this is a remake of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland, brought here because of it's huge popularity there.

I really enjoyed the story and setting of the ride. The effects are top notch and the plot is fun, but the ride is needlessly rough IMO. I'm not a wimp in terms of thrill rides, but the motion for this ride felt less exciting and more needlessly jarring. I felt a little green toward the end.

I probably like Dinosaur even more than Expedition Everest. It is a completely immersive experience from the moment you step into the Dino Institute. One problem it has is similar to that of the original version of Alien Encounter--the preshow does not accuarately represent how the actual ride is, which can be scary for small children, and even some adults.

We loved "Countdown to Extinction" when it first opened. It was intense and the animatronics at the time were top notch and functioning. However since converting to "Dinosaur" the attraction seems to have been cut back. It has been plagued with techinical issues and the intensity of the ride was toned down a great deal.

We have only been on this rid twice but it's NO way a rode for small kids as we found out the hard way! It's dark, loud and sort of scary for the little ones to say the least. It's not a ride worth waitng an hour to get on, but it's fun and a bit different from the other attractions. Our poor daughter was four when she wanted to ride this and half way through almost had a heart attack! We got the photo to prove it:) There were also some other kids coming off the ride that were just as petrified or were crying. It dies depend on your child, but it's not the POTC scary... It's dark and bumpy and loud kind of scary.... With dinos trying to eat you!

This is normally one of my favorite attractions. I'm marking it down slightly because the last time I was there some of the main effects where not working. Once the lighting effects were off and the maintenance lighting was on. This really spoiled the last scene, as you could see the dinosaur from a mile a way.

Dinosaur is a "great" attraction stuck in a "good" theme park. It is a fun and intense dark ride that might surprise some with how rough it can be. But if you like it rough (in regards to theme park rides, people!) give it a whirl. It is definitely worth it!

This is a good ride. The highlight is the "scare" toward the end but once you have ridden it the scare isn't as scarry. The ride is bumpy and jerky but it is still a good ride and since there are only a few rides at DAK this is one you may have to wait in line to ride.

A very rough ride and absolutely terrifying to me. I don't know if I'll ever go back on it. Way too loud and way too bumpy. The best part of the ride is the Dino-fied McDonald's posters on the way out of the building to the gift shop.

The ride has frequent sudden starts and stops. I could see that someone with back pain would be adversely affected. It supposedly uses the same ride technology as Indy in DL, but the latter is much more enjoyable.

This is a really fun attraction. I would enjoy it a lot more though (and would have given it a 10) if it wasn't so gosh darn LOUD. If you want to avoid the harshest of rides, ask the CM if you can ride in the front row. It's the rear of the ride cars that buck and jump.

My wife and I rode Dinosaur during our first visit to Animal Kingdom in January 2008. Fortunately, we had no preconceived notion as to what the attraction would be like, which meant that everything that happened caught us by surprise.
During the final scene in which the riders confront a rather ornery, carnivorous dinosaur, there is a flash as the riders' photo is taken. Luckily for me, the photo is taken when the dinosaur lunges the first time. Had it been taken during his second lunge, I readily admit that it would have caught me screaming like a small girl. In fact, there are probably small girls out there who would have held up better.
Regardless, the ride was very intense, and overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Having said that, if you are the type who does not enjoy being scared, like my lovely wife, then you will hate this ride.
The biggest drawback would be that once you have ridden it once, Dinosaur really loses a lot of its luster. Knowing when and where the dinosaurs will pop out kind of defeats the purpose. Then it's just a loud and bumpy ride.
