We just LOVE the Wilderness lodge! You just can't beat being that close to Magic Kingdom, we love taking the boat rides to and from the park. Also, by having the boat you have easy access to take it over to the Contemporary and jump on the monorail. We love how for a deluxe resort it is the cheapest price wise.
The theming of the resort is incredible,we love how it is all under one roof and doesn't seem like a large resort- so easy to get from your room to the bus, dining and the pool. The gyser is fun for the kids and we love going to the dock or beach at night to watch the water pageant. The dining offerings good (counterservice, sit down). Whispering Canyon Cafe is a riot, the counterservice meets our needs.
Gorgeous property, great location, just love it here! The pool can be pretty small, especially on a crowded day. The only major downside is the transportation is shared with Fort Wilderness Campground- liked how we are picked up first so we always had a seat and dropped off first but sometimes we waited a while at Fort Wilderness which made us delayed to the parks so we stuck to the boat and monorail whenever possible.
We tried the kids club here too and the kids just loved it, actually BEGGED us to send them another night there (they didn't have to beg too hard : )
HIGHLY recommend staying here, gorgeous resort, great location, awesome theming, just feels like "home"!

We love the Wilderness Lodge. When not at Disney we play the "what's your favorite thing at Disney" game and we never play a round without someone saying, "the boat ride from hotel to MK". In additon the lobby is just majestic. The pool is awesome. We stay every trip that we're going to branch out and stay at a new hotel but never do. Even though the price is steep compared to value or moderate, this is the cheapest in the deluxe category - so it's a good value if you want the deluxe perks!

Wilderness Lodge is the place we call "home" when we're at Disney. From the moment you step into the gorgeous lobby you feel like you've been transported to a majestic mountain getaway. The resort is beautiful inside and out. One of the nicest experiences you can have here is just walking the grounds and spotting chipmunks, rabbits, ducks, and maybe an occasional deer.
We love the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom, especially in the morning. It's a wonderful way to start your day.
All of the cast members are wonderful. We've had great experiences with the front desk personnel, the people inside of the trading post, Roaring Forks, Whispering Canyon, and even Mousekeeping.
One of our favorite things to do at the end of the night is grab a drink from Roaring Forks and head to the beach to watch the water parade. It's usually very quiet there and you can easily find a chair to watch the show.
The cast members and the feeling of being transported away from it all will keep us coming back again and again!

The Wilderness Lodge would be the perfect Resort if it were located on the Monorail. The theming is unique and consistent and very well done throughout the entire resort.
We really like the pool area, although it can get really crowded. It was fun to see the geyser go off, but when we visited it seemed to have been not working.
The least attractive feature of the Wilderness Lodge for us would be the transportation. While we do enjoy the boat rides, we are the type of family that likes to get to the parks early, and waiting on boats early in the morning could be frustrating. For us, the prices we paid were comparable with monorail resort prices, but with less convenient.
All that said, this is a gorgeous resort - you won't go wrong staying here!

I stayed at the WL in September of 2006. I was travelling alone as the result of a last minute decision to 'escape' to WDW. I'd always wanted to stay at the WL, and finally got the chance. I'd paid for a basic room, but was upgraded to a pool view with bunkbead - which because I was traveling alone ended up being a place to throw my stuff each night. Part of my package was the free dining plan, which due to relatively low crowds in mid-September meant that I was able to pretty much get the ADRs I wanted.
I LOVED the WL! Beautiful theming, very quiet, although during the weekend portion of my five day stay the pool and surrounding areas were swamped by locals and castmembers (I was told) who use the off seasons to take advantage of discounts to take weekend getaways to WL. I was able to use - and did - the quiet pool over in the Villas area, which was very close by.
I loved being able to jump on the shuttle boat and go over to the CR, MK, and then to monorail to EPCOT. It was lovely sitting on the beach and watching the water parade. The counter service food court was small, but had very good food. I did not eat at the WL signature restaurant, but did eat at Whispering Canyon, located in the lobby. DO NOT go if you don't like children running, screaming, singing, and noisily interacting with the loud and silly castmembers. It's great for kids, but for adults...not so much.
Overall I heartily recommend this property. It has all the best of a WDW property - theming, theming, theming, plus location, and best of all natural beauty with its location on Bay Lake and the serenity that comes with such a location. I can see why it is such a popular resort.

Even after staying at a variety of other deluxe resorts, I keep coming back to the WL. From the amazing lobby with its perfectly themed soundtrack to the lanterns on the path to the boat dock, no detail is overlooked at this resort. I've enjoyed the restaurants (including the quick service) and found transportation to be quite good. We've had a couple different woods and courtyard views, and I've enjoyed them all. It's so relaxing to sit on your balcony and watch the world go by! If there were larger beds in the rooms and a bit more space, I think we'd stay here even more often. While I have enjoyed some great locations, pools, and themes at other resorts, the level of detail at the WL is pure Disney magic. At the Christmas holidays especially, this is just a lovely place to be.

This was the 1st resort I ever stayed at on Disney property. I feel in love with Disney here. The rooms are a little on the small side but well themed.
The pool and hot tub were nice. Mousekeeping was really good.
It was nice to sit in the chairs by the fireplace. THe boat ride to Magic Kingdom was fun.
Would stay here again if given the opportunity

I am not a big fan of the Northwoods theme, probably because we see alot of that in Wisconsin Dells. The location is good but the slowness of the ferry coupled with potential long waits for the ferry to arrive drive me insane when I need to get to the parks in the morning. I'm sure that it is quicker that taking a bus from Animal Kingdom lodge or Beach Club but it just feels SO SLOW that it makes me want to jump out and swim the last 50 yard..

This probably my favorite of the deluxe resorts. Sometimes it's a little less expensive than the other deluxe resorts.
The boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom is great and could be considered a ride in itself.
The atmosphere here can't be beat. The rooms are a pretty good size.
The restaurants are great, especially Whispering Canyon Cafe, which is a lot of fun.
We also rented a boat here once and was lots of fun sailing around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon.
One of my favorite memories is having the ducks and bunnies come right up to our room on the first floor.

We will go back! The room was a bit small for the price and a long walk from the lobby. Boat transportation was flawless. Love the proximity to MK and FW via boat. Bus transportation was fine. The decor and theming are really wonderful. both restaurants are good, not fantastic. I really liked the food court. Service was really excellent, especially housekeeping and concierge desk.

This is our favorite resort. It is close to MK. We love being able to take a boat or bus. Great themeing! A great deluxe resort at a lower price (because it is not on the monorail). Good variety of sit down restaurants and close to other resorts (GF, Poly, Contemporary and Fort Wilderness) for even more dining options. The lobby is a great place to hang out and relax. Nice pool and hot tubs. A nice lounge with friendly staff.

Needs better food places and the buses were a pain, had to wait a long time for them.

We loved our stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We didn't quite know what to expect going into it and walked away in LOVE with this resort.
We stayed for 9 nights in March 2009, Easter week (insert horrified face here). By Thursday, days before Easter, the parks were a zoo and we were forced to spend more time at the resort. We were so thankful that this was the resort we had to come back to. It is nice and relaxing. The counter service has a nice selection of healthy items but you can still get the burgers and pizza that DD and DH enjoy.
We had previously stayed at a Value and a Moderate and never spent much time in the lobby at these resorts. My family enjoyed spending time in the lobby as we passed through each evening.
The bus service was great. We generally shared the bus with the Grand Floridian going to and from parks or DTD. The boat service to and from the Magic Kingdom was a nice option to have.
The rooms were adequate size. We went with the bunk bed option. Only having one child it gave us the option of stowing items on the bottom bunk which was nice.
We highly recommend this resort and will probably book our 2011 stay at this location.

We have found you love or hate the Wilderness Lodge. We are in the LOVE camp! We have stayed here 6 times in the past 5 years and enjoyed each and every stay. The atmosphere is so relaxing and quaint. CM's go above and beyond to help in any way. Ranger Stan puts the icing on the cake!
The rooms are adequate for our family of three. We have experienced the bunk bed rooms as well as the two queens. We enjoy having a balcony to have fresh air and watch the Wishes fireworks from.
The transporation to Magic Kingdom via the boat or to the Contemporary to catch the resort monorail has always been enjoyable and very efficient. Bus transportation is efficient here as well. In May 2009 there was actually a transportation CM stationed at the bus area. We were able to confirm the the DTD, DHS and AK buses stopped first at the Grand Floridian. This was beneficial to us for some ADR's. Check with guest services or the transportation CM before relying on this information!
We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge again and again. We love it!

In my opinion, the Wilderness Lodge is a Disney masterpiece that cannot be overlooked when searching for a place to stay on Disney property. I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge three times (2003, 2007, & 2008) in the 14 years of my life and I am going to be staying there again in June of this year. Every single year that I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, I have had absolutely wonderful experiences, and I strongly recommend that anyone who is going to stay on WDW property look into the Wilderness Lodge.
Firstly, the Wilderness Lodge is themed in a manner that not only makes one feel comfortable, but also like one is right at home. Even the staff of the Wilderness Lodge (which, from this point on, will be referred to as "WL") make guests feel completely welcome and cozy in the Northwest theme of the lodge. The massive lobby is something that has never failed to astound me upon entering the WL during each of my visits to WDW. The theme and atmosphere, which are evident in all of the "public" areas of the WL, are also masterfully included in the 727 guestrooms. The theme and atmosphere are consistent throughout the entire resort, and the cozy feel is carried throughout the entire resort.
Some of the best-themed places in the WL:
-The pool area
-The lobby
-The Whispering Canyon Cafe
The rooms at the WL are top-notch and are, in my opinion, some of the best on the Disney property. I personally have stayed in rooms with bunk beds and also in a room with two queen-size beds. In each situation, the room was spacious and provided plenty of space for the various tourist items that are always brought along. The beds are comfortable and I never had any discomfort whatsoever the following morning.
While the selection of restaurants at the WL is limited, there are still several good options for guests to choose from. Among them are:
-The Whispering Canyon Cafe
-The Roaring Fork Cafe
-Artist Point
While I have never had the opportunity to dine at Artist Point, I have always wanted to. However, I have dined at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and the Roaring Fork Cafe. The Whispering Canyon is a rather loud, upbeat restaurant that not only provides guests with decent food but also with a form of entertainment from the waitstaff (please not this is not a dinner show). The Roaring Fork Cafe is a quick-service eatery located near the pool (though it is inside the WL) that serves a fair selection of food items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, when staying at the WL, buy the Resort Refillable Mug for each member of your party (each one costs under $10, and it does save money, seeing as soft drinks, coffee, and tea causes the price to increase rapidly).
There is a great deal to do at the WL, and one can never really experience everything the resort has to offer in one visit (I haven't even experienced it all in 3 visits!). The resort is conveniently located on Bay Lake, which provides a myriad of water-based recreation options. There is also an arcade, pool, and health club (I have never seen inside this health club, nor have I ever been able to locate it...), among various other recreational activities. One will not be disappointed with the many options offered.
The only negative thing that I really have to comment on is the fact that the WL is not connected to the monorail that links the Contemporary Resort, the Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Polynesian Resort, and the Transportation and Ticket Center. This takes away from the convenience a little bit, but it is not something that makes the WL not worth one's time. After all, there are several other deluxe resorts that are not linked to the monorail, so it is not really anything major.
One the plus side, due to the fact that the WL is not linked to the monorail, it is genuinely less expensive than the various other deluxe resorts that are linked to the monorail. As far as I know, it is the least expensive of all the deluxe resorts in WDW, which certainly makes it a cost-effective way to spend one's vacation at WDW.
In conclusion, the Wilderness Lodge is my absolute favorite place to stay on Disney property. With its masterfully themed decor and guestrooms, the WL is certainly not a place to miss. Its pros definitely outweigh its cons, makin the WL a cost-effective, yet relaxing, place to stay in Disney World. I hope that my review has helped those interested in the WL, and I absolutely recommend the resort to parties of any size.
**A final note- Please pardon the length of this review. This is the first review I have ever written, and I may have gone a bit overboard with it. However, if you are still reading this, thank you for spending your valuable time to listen to my comments on one of the finest resorts in all of WDW.

This resort is one of our family favorites. It is SO relaxing and beautiful there! We always book a courtyard bunk bed room and request an inner courtyard view and have never been disappointed. The kids love the pool and slide, they never wanted to leave. We found the boat service to the Magic Kingdom (as well as the Contemporary) reliable and slow paced, we welcomed that feeling. If we needed to get anywhere quick, we opted for our car or the Disney buses. We were disappointed by the Roaring Fork quick service food option, the food was basic and tasty, but it got VERY crowded. Overall, though, a wonderful experience and a great resort!

This is our favorite resort on WDW property. The theming is second to none, and the pool is awsome. We love the bunk-bed rooms, which are perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 pre-teen children. The resort provides a very relaxed feeling with great views. The boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom is wonderful. There is a 'hidden Mickey' hunt that can be done in the resort that the kids just love. We stayed in this resort during the holidays and the decorations were spectacular. Other than the room size being a bit small for a family with 3 or more children, this is a great resort that I would highly recommend.

Wilderness Lodge has become our home at Disney. We have been to other Disney Resorts and always come back to the Wilderness Lodge. Our family loves the theming. This past year we could see Wishes from our room every night. Disney transportation is at its best here. Take a boat ride to Magic Kingdom or to the Contempory and hope on the monorail to Epcot.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge on our last visit to WDW. It was our first stay in a deluxe, we normally stay in a moderate. We were so excited about our stay. The Wilderness Lodge exceeded our expectations and our expectations were very high. The lobby is absolutely beautiful. You can look up several floors above and see people looking over the railing at the mass awe in front of them. The room was equally as nice. There was plenty of space for the three of us and we never felt like we were stuffed into a room. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and looking over the pool area. The Wilderness Lodge is definately a resort with all the perks. We ate at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and had a blast. The waiters/waitresses made the night so much fun for all of us. One of the many perks at this resort is the boat ride to the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom. You can take the boat to the Contemporary then take the monorail to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. It was so easy. Another things that impressed us was how quiet it was in the rooms. I was expecting to hear noise in the hall and outside, but that was not the case. All the way around, this resort is a wonderful place to stay. I actually didn't mind coming back to the resort because I never felt like I was couped up in a room with no view! I highly recommend the Wilderness Lodge.

This is the place to stay if you want to RELAX while on vacation! The theming & atmosphere are spectacular!
Artist Point & the Whispering Canyon Cafe are two very good restaurants. The pool is clean, large, and even boasts a neat water slide. The lobby alone will take your breath away!
The staff is very accommodating & courteous. The location of the resort is great: close enough to the Magic Kingdom but far enough away from noise and the World to make you feel like you are in a very secluded part of the world!
The only beef I have is the room service menu: not enough options & it was a little slow. However, the transportation also needs a bit of work - the only boat you can take goes to the Magic Kingdom, which is great, but everything else is a bus. The buses don't come frequent enough.
Otherwise, this Resort is one of our favorites & when you checkin - make sure you ask for a Hidden Mickey List and request to be a Flag Family for the Day! Enjoy!!!

Visited 7/03-7/11, and we had the most fantastic time! We were upgraded from a woods view to a courtyard view (rm 3147). I was a little concerned that the pool noise would be bothersome, but you couldn't hear anything when you closed the balcony doors. We had a room with two queen beds, and it was a bit smaller than we expected. The fridge had not been cleaned out from the previous guest.
Housekeeping left plenty of Mickey soap and shampoo every day. They also left us three animal towels!
We were able to see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom from over the top of the building, but a much better view was on the lake pier.
Boats and buses ran very quickly- we never waited more than 10 minutes to be picked up by Disney transportation.
Cast members were always very helpful. Several gave us very good unsolicited tips and info.
The PhotoPass desk at the hotel printed our free 5x7 even though they weren't listed on the voucher as one of the sites where you could get it done.
The hotel store had everything you could have possible forgotten to bring. I needed hair scrunchies, and they had them!
There was always plenty of room to eat at the Quick Service dining, and they stayed open until 11 pm.
The laundry room was small but adequate. Our kids loved the swimming pool and slide. There were two hot tubs to enjoy. We did not use the kid's club or the "beach" area.
This was a great hotel and look forward to returning.

We enjoyed our stay here, and found it very nice to have everything in one building. The transportation options were good - we liked to boat to the Magic Kingdom, and found the bus service to be quick. I compare it to the Polynesian, because that's my only other experience with a deluxe resort - Wilderness Lodge has the plus of having a hot tub, the downside is the lack of a zero entry pool (with little kids, that is nice!). The rooms were certainly smaller and not as nicely decorated as the Polynesian rooms, but the Wilderness Lodge does cost less. Very nice resort - I'm not at all an outdoorsy type and I loved the theming of the common areas (again, the room was not as inspiring) We thought the theming and selection at Roaring Fork could have been better.
I think others' absolute adoration of the hotel set my expectations a bit high, and it wasn't as magnificent as I thought it would be, but I bet it's the best resort to stay at during the Christmas season!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Gorgeous! Cons: the CS is too small for this resort
Had a very last minute stay here Aug 14-16...was able to get a standard room for $119 a night, the view was of the loading area so we were awake at 7am each day. The up side is we watched Wishes from our balcony without any obstructions.
Our room was very clean, it was 5044, the mousekeepers no longer leave shower gel, it is available upon request only and our girl left us 3 bottles.
Super close to the elevators and a quick ride to Roaring Forks.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Ate breakfast at RF twice and it was so crowded and packed with people, the noise level was insane...

We stayed here Apr.11-17. We had room 4028 which we would recommend (a woods view, but we paid for standard). Roaring Forks, the quick service location had decent tasting food; eggs/hashbrowns/bacon $6 for breakfast; excellent turkey or roast beef sandwich/pasta salad $9; double cheeseburger/fries $9 for lunch/dinner. A little pricey but quick and tasty. The laundry facility was easily accessible on our day off from the parks. The lobby is fantastically themed as well. The best part of our stay was being able to be the flag family on our last full day. Ranger Joe lead us up to the roof and we raised the 5 flags. Ranger Joe took pictures of us (using our camera) and was helpful with suggestions for the pictures I took too. All in all, the staff was friendly, the resort beautiful, the boat launch convenient (we even saw a bald eagle catch a fish while riding the boat back from the MK) We would stay here again.

Loved, loved, loved our 6 night/7 day stay at Wilderness Lodge! Our March 2010 visit was our first stay here....and we can't wait to stay there again! We arrived at the Orlando airport at 9:15am, took DME transportation to WL....and walked up to the check-in desk at 10:30am, not expecting to be able to get our room for another few hours. We pleasantly surprised that not only was it ready, but it had a beautiful view! We were on the 5th floor with a Courtyard View -- Artist's Point across the courtyard from our room!
Mousekeeping was excellent throughout our stay! They did a wonderful job of arranging our numerous stuffed animals and my husband's birthday deliveries from Disney Floral and Gifts in fun ways
Every cast member we encountered was so polite and helpful! We even discovered Photopass photographers in the lobby and in the courtyard on 4 separate occasions (take advantage of this, people!!!).
The lobby is amazing! My one regret is that we weren't able to take more time to just sit and look around for a few hours. Mercantile is wonderful....spent a little too much money on goodies (including an awesome WL picture frame and canoe of 4 Disney characters).
The geyser is pretty cool....finally got to see it our last day there. The pool was pretty cool as well, complete with a little duck family swimming (unfortunately, a hawk picked off 4 of 7 ducklings during our last day there).
We loved the boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom -- so perfect and relaxing! Bus wait time for the other parks wasn't a problem, either!

Love Love Love this resort! Just wish I could afford it. But always make sure I go here on my visits. As you enter the lobby you get a warm campy feel and the grounds are beautiful. Don't know much about the pool Ive never seen it. The gift shop inside is nice but pretty much everything is disney gone camping! Which is nice that Disney individualizes the souvenirs for each resort (for the most part). If you have time I definitely recommend stopping by for a visit!

we stayed at the Lodge May 9-14 2010. We couldn't have been happier, everyone was wonderful, we have never have a more relaxing vacation. Our room was a bit small for the price we paid, but we really weren't in there that often. The pool was great and we really enjoyed the daily activities. The bartender at the Trout Pass Bar was so much fun and kept us adults entertained! We will be back to the Lodge in May 2011, and we're counting the days!!
