We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter after having stayed at the Wilderness lodge the year previous and thought we would be disappointed, we were pleasantly surprised! We chose it over Port Orleans Riverside becase French Quarter is more compact than Riverside and we liked that and because for busing they are the first ones on and off the buses. The bus transportation was great, almost always had a seat.
The theming was fun, food court had great food, LOVED the pool. It was a large pool, pool slide was great, kiddie pool was good too. We enjoyed the pool bar and the hot tub as well.
We took the boat to and from Downtown Disney and it was great.
We were assigned to building 7 at first and it was pretty far away from the food court and buses so we requested to be moved and were to building 2 and it was GREAT- right by the pool/foodcourt/buses.
The staff was wonderful, great gift shop. Loved the live jazz music at night. What a beautiful resort! If you are looking for a moderate, I would higly recommend Port Orleans French Quarter.

This is my absolute favorite Moderate. I love the fact that it is so compact and that it is easy to walk to any point of the resort. I loved building 5 because it is steps away from the pool and just a quick walk to the boat launch and the main building. It is quiet and peacful as well.

Ports Orleans French Quarter provides Disney guests with an excellent opportunity to experience a G rated version of Mardi Gras 365 days a year. Besides the great location, wonderfully themed pool, and convenient transportation to the Downtown Disney area, Port Orleans French Quarter also provides guests with some wonderful night time entertainment with the Scat Cat Club. The highlight performance is Wednesday through Saturday when Elliot Dyson entertains both young and old from 8:30 - Midnight with the classics of Jazz, Blues and good old fashioned rock and roll. The wonderfully themed resort, choice laden food court, and the entertainment for both young and adult alike out weigh any negatives presented by the shared transportation with Riverside.

My husband and I have stayed at POFQ twice and loved it each time. The theming is wonderful and the landscaping is deserving of the awards it has apparently won. The value is good for a Disney property, and since it is centrally located and a smallish property the bus rides are quick with very small wait times.
With it's location on the river leading down to Downtown Disney, and also back up the river to POR you have a number of choices for dining, despite the fact that this property only has a foodcourt.
We found the property very peaceful, the castmembers terrific, and basically a jewel of a property. In fact, my husband is reluctant to try staying at Deluxe resorts, despite my urging, because he loves the property so much. Since I've stayed at the WL and Dolphin I can say that if you don't want to pay or use the amenities of the deluxe properties, then this is a terrific, and more economical, choice.

This is my favorite moderate resort. The resort is compact. Walking to the food court or the bus is easy and no room is really "that far" away. I love the pool area and the "Laissez les bon temps rouler" attitude that is present throughout the resort. In the spring, the flowers and trees are just gorgeous in full bloom. It adds another layer of southern charm to this resort.
I thought the food court had the essentials and plenty of fun food items as well...although everything was a bit pricey. It is Disney though, so that's to be expected. I loved starting my day with beignets that were almost as good as Cafe Du Monde. Now if they could only couple that with a better cup of coffee!
I would recommend French Quarter to anyone!

We stayed here for a week in March 2009. We abosolutely loved the resort. The resort is smaller than other moderate resorts so it was always a quick easy walk back to the room. This was great with my mom and 2 exhausted little boys each night. The pool is great with a fun slide for the kids. Overall, the resort has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere that is a big welcome after a fun day in hectic theme parks. The food court had a good selection and the lines were never very long. The room was very nice and clean and was plenty of space for our group of 4.

We stayed here for 4 night in October of '08 and had a good time. We appreciated the compact nature of this resort and that there was only one bus stop, so that during peak times (when you didn't have to share buses with Riverside, there wasn't any additional stops between you and your destination. The boat to Downtown Disney was both convenient and fun too. Our rooms were fairly standard for moderate resorts, decent size with regular amenities but the beds could have been a bit more comfortable and the bedding could have been better. I found the dining options to be lacking. Unlike the other moderate resorts, there's no table service location and I thought the foodcourt to be smaller than at other locations. Overall it's a nice resort and I'd stay here again.

This is my all-time favorite resort. I have stayed here many times and have never had a bad visit. From the moment you walk into the Lobby, you will transported to New Orleans. Walking the "streets' to your room remind me of New Orleans.
The food court is very good and has many good choices. The Beignets are too die for and a must get every trip.
The rooms are well themed. MouseKeeping has never been an issue. I really like the boat transportation to Downtown Disney. It's a nice alternative to the bus.

My wife and I have found this to be our favorite resort by far. Simply stated, it is our favorite due to the small size and lack of any crowds whatsoever. It could use a sit-down restaurant, but we'd rather take the boat to Downtown Disney for a wider selection and a chance to walk around and shop after eating anyway.
Other than that, we love the rooms, the theming, the walkways and the fact that the bus service gets priority over Riverside. We don't spend too much time at the pool, as we'd rather be in the parks, but we do enjoy the pool and the big water slide.

The only moderate resort that I have not stayed at is the Caribbean Beach Resort, and I most likely will not get a chance to stay there because Port Orleans French Quarter has become our favorite of the moderate resorts. My family and I have stayed at this resort resort twice and we have a third visit booked on a bounce back deal.
What attracted us to this resort was the smaller size which is really nice for getting around. You can easily run your refillable mug back to the room and get to the one bus stop without feeling like you just ran a marathon. My kids love the pool and the dragon slide. The boat ride to Downtown Disney is a nice relaxing ride if you plan to do any shopping.

Our first trip to WDW and we stayed at POFQ.
It was great for us, we had our 5 yr old and 1 yr old and we were close to everything. Our daughter loved the waterslide!
Our room was always clean and the grounds were beautiful. We were there over our anniversary and when we returned to our room that day there was a card from Mickey & Minnie.
My only complaint was the food court - we did eat there a few times and the selection to us was only so-so.

This is by far the best value on Disney property. A moderate, yes, but without that crowded feeling. The boat transportation makes up for the lack of a sit down restaurant...Downtown Disney is full of them.

Simply put, THIS IS THE BEST MODERATE WE'VE STAYED AT!
Now, we haven't been to all the moderates, but I stayed at all the value resorts, Boardwalk several times and visited most of the other resorts and this is one resort we'd comeback to again.
The attention to detail and feel that you have when you walk into the lobby carries all the way to your room, to the pool and even the food court.
I think this is Disney's little hidden gem of a resort - the deluxe of the moderates.
The kids love the swimming pool and its theme.
The buildings are set close and this gives a true relaxing feeling just as if you were in the Big Easy.
The foodcourt is perfect, and the Riverside resort is just around the corner.
Being able to take the boat to Downtown Disney is a fun method of transportation when you want to avoid the bus.
We've stayed here several times and will do so again in the future. Probably would have stayed here in December, but grandpa was interested in staying at Riverside.

This is one of the best moderate hotels. The themeing is great. There are so many details at the resort including the "street" names. There is boat transportation to Downtown Disney and is a relatively short bus ride to the other parks. It's also a short walk away from Port Orleans Riverside, so you can have a meal there as well.
The rooms are nice - nothing special.
The food court is pretty good and the only place at WDW that you can get beignets!

We really love this resort. The size of the rooms is great for a young family. We love the double vanities. The intimate spacing of the buildings make everything very accessible. The food court is adequate, but not fantastic. We'd prefer for them to bring back a table service restaurant. We never had trouble with any of the bus transportation.

French Quarter is my favorite moderate resort. Love the theme and the pool. Also enjoy the smaller resort, everything is close, no walking a mile to the main house, food court, pool or bus stop. Rooms are maybe a tad small and getting an elevator can be a long wait, but still a very nice resort. Smaller and quieter. I like it much better than Riverside and Carribbean Beach.

There are the big mega resorts like the Contemporary and Caribbean Beach and the cheaper noisy resorts like Pop Century but Port Orleans is right in the middle. It's a quiet manageably sized place on the Sassagalloa River. It has a charm the other resorts are missing. It's easy to walk around. The little fountains add a restfulness. The pool is fun without being to big. The food court is well decorated with Mardi Gras decorations. This is a good couple resort in the moderate category. What's really cool is you can ride the boat to downtown Disney just about anytime. It's the best free attraction on property, after the monorails.
There is no sit down restaurant. You have a long walk to the Boatwright’s restaurant at Port Orleans Riverside or take to boat.
If your looking for charm this is the place to be.

While I am not a fan of the Moderate resorts, this one is absolutely wonderful. The grounds are fantastic, the buildings are beautiful and every bit of it is wonderfully peaceful. Even though the walk to the main building can be a bit long, it is worth it. And the boat ride to DTD is fantastic, especially at night. And there is something great about the sound of the horse and carriage coming down the walkway by the river. Wonderful place.

We stayed at POFQ last Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it can take a bit to get to some of the other parts of WDW. Even though the parks were very busy, the resort did not seem to be overly packed, there was never a wait at the food court and the pools had room.

We only stayed here for one night. But it was a great resort!
The room was much nicer than I expected, and bigger. The grounds were beautiful! It felt like I was actually walking in New Orleans than in Orlando.
The food court was ok. I thought the taco salad was really good, the pizza wasn't.
I had a pleasant nights sleep and would def. stay here again!

Our favorite of the moderate resorts. It's much smaller than the other moderates, making for a more compact layout and a more intimate feeling. The grounds are very nicely landscaped and the room decor is pretty (nothing remarkable, but pretty).
The lack of a sit-down restaurant isn't great, but the restaurant at Riverside is a short walk, and you have access to all the Downtown Disney restaurants via the boat launch. The foodcourt can be a little cramped at peak dining times (it's small, but this is a small resort) but we've never had a problem finding a seat.
Having to share the buses with Riverside can be problematic since the much-larger resort can fill them up quickly, but French Quarter is frequently the first stop to pick up and drop off, so that eases the problem somewhat.

Love this resort as well as the POR sister resort. It is beautiful, quiet, and the rooms are nice size, new mattresses, CM's very nice, I like the walkway to POR and the boats that take you downtown. Great pool

We had our first (but not our last) stay at the POFQ June 3-7 and it was fanastic. We were in building 3, second floor king bed room that is very close to the pool and dining room. Room was clean but Mousekeeping never did the room the entire time we were there, we were out of the room from 9am to 3pm every day but no luck. She did bring us coffee, toiletries and more towels.
The pool is great, not too busy at all, we were the only ones using the hot tub. Drinks at Mardi Grogs are a must!
Food court was smaller than the other mods but just enough for the amount of people using it. We had breakfast there every day and lunch 2 days and the food was very good, would go out of my way for a taco salad!
The resort is gorgeous, the staff very friendly and the bus service was just fine. POFQ has its own bus to MK but shares the other parks with POR
Highly recommend this resort, cannot wait to go back in Oct!

My favorite of the moderates! The size and layout make this an easy and convenient resort to navigate, and it is an absolutely beautiful resort. Bus service is shared with Riverside, but FQ guests are usually the first on and the first off!
