Positive aspects of the product (pros): Beautifully maintained, great atmosphere, wonderful buffet at Trails End Cons: Cabins could use larger beds
I really don't have anything bad to say about Ft. Wilderness, with the sole exception that they could stand to put larger beds in the cabins. The resort is beautiful, well maintained and the buffet at Trails End is one of the best deals on property. The Hoop Dee Doo Revue is another classic found here, and well worth the price of admission for a great dinner show. This from someone who wouldn't be caught dead camping. This place was a real surprise and I can't wait to do it again.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Variety of facilities and activities accomodate all Cons: Internal transportation required to get most places
Fort Wilderness provides a positive experience to a wide variety of audiences with its camping sites and fully furnished trailers. The kitchen is useful if you want to eat more meals at the resort and save a little money (stop at the store before you get to Disney). There are activities all day and night for all ages, and just walking around and looking at how each person sets up their campsite can be very fun.
The major drawback is that without a personal vehicle, you likely need to rely on the internal bus system to get around the resort, or to the exits at the front or back to get to the buses and boats to travel to other Disney destinations.

Stayed here in the cabins twice. Very quiet. Great alernate for families of 5 or 6. Kitchen is great for breakfasts to get out to the parks quicker.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Elbow room, beautiful landscaping, great theming, and golf carts! Cons: Bed size
After several years staying in other resorts, we returned to Fort Wilderness this year for our vacation in January. Our party consisted of four adults, and we rented a cabin. I loved the theming in the cabins and the peaceful atmosphere of the campground. The trading posts had fun merchandise, Trails End was a great value, the Hoop Dee Doo was a treat, and I loved driving around in a golf cart. While I imagine the internal bus system might add a little extra time, having the golf cart made transportation a breeze. (I can't overstate how much I recommend that people splurge on the golf cart.) I agree with Pete that queen beds would be a huge addition to the cabins, but, overall, I loved the whole experience, even after several years of deluxe hotel stays. As it turns out, Fort Wilderness was just as much fun for me this year (I'm in my mid-20s) as when I was a kid!

Fabulous campground, cleanest bathrooms in my camping experience, all the amenities one could want - but seriously, would it KILL you to offer free WiFi?? Even the motel 6 offers free WiFi....

We've stayed 3 times and each time was better than the last. We did not get a golf cart and we had no problems getting around.
Bring mosquito spray as they packed us off while we were on the beach watching the Electric Water Parade at night.
As I said earlier, it's very quite and serene. Hard to remember that Magic Kingdom is just a peaceful boatride away.
Truly a Walt Disney World gem! A wonderful resort for those traveling with or without children. Disney got it right!

We loved it. The cabins were clean. It was really quiet, and the staff was nice.
The only problem we had was remembering what bus to get back to our cabin.

Fort Wilderness is a great resort with great cast members. We usually stay in a camper so its very inexpensive. The showers in the bath houses are very large and always clean. There is lot of activities and things to do, plus they just remolded the main pool.

We did stay for a week in cabin 2111 (from April 11th until 18th). The cabin was fine. It's not a 5 stars but it's clean and the beds are great. Yes the TV was old and it's not a HDTV. But for the price I think it's the best you can get. Transport to MK was easy and fast. If you need to go to Epcot or any other parks it will take you at least 45 minutes. The stores cary little food and you should go to a Publix or any other supermarket before you get there.
Internal bus system is efficient but you always have to switch buses at the outpost and the wait could be long.
The cabins are great because you can spend a lot of time outside and play with your kids.
A great place for all ages.

this place is massive, so make sure not to get off at the wrong bus stop because you will be waiting forever like i did...one of the must sees at this place is the hoop dee doo revue, i've seen it about 15 times and will continuously keep seeing it!!

Our party of 6 (4 adults, 2 kids) enjoyed our 2nd stay at the Fort Wilderness cabins January 28-February 4, 2012. We purchased a "free dining" package, but we still found it valuable to have the full kitchen for breakfasts and snacks. Since the cabin has one bathroom, we requested a loop near a camping loop so we would be close to a comfort station with showers. We enjoyed having a golf cart to get around within the resort. We used Disney transportation to get to the parks and never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus or boat. We had a delicious dinner one night at Trail's End and a suprisingly good lunch at the pool snack bar. One of the things we like best about Fort Wilderness is how quiet it is. You rarely hear anything outside the cabin. We also like having the outdoor space.
