Positive aspects of the product (pros): great energy, lots of fun Cons: HOT
I first went to this dinner as a solo. It has picnic tables so you can just sit where you want so you didn't feel like you were sticking out if you were by yourself. I've since gone back twice, once with a group of 6, once with a group of 9. Children ranged in age from 2 - 10, they all really enjoyed the entertainment. The characters came out and danced w/ eveyone.
The food is typical cook out food. Grill chix, BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, sole slaw, pot salad, french fries, burgers, and hot dogs. There was plenty of food and I found it very good. They also had salad w/ a great balsamic vinegar dressing. Dessert was watermellon or ice cream treats (mickey bars and pop-cycle type bars).
It is outside so it you go in the heart of summer it's very hot especially if you are dancing.

How do you explain to a 3 year old that the cahracters are not there to pose for photos? When you first enter, Chip and Dale are there, and other Disney characters. My granddaughter was 3 and so into the characters. She ran to Chip and Dale and was told "no pictures or autographs"...they are only there to greet you as you enter....ok, the food is very good..great ribs, all the Mickey bars you want, beer and sangria, other picnic fare...then the characters, Mickey and Minnie are there to dance. Little ones want to dance with Minnie or Mickey alone...she wanted to hold Minnie's hand and it just isn't meant for that. The little ones can get stepped on or easily knocked down. It was overall, a stressful time for my granddaughter because she just didn't understand, and she didn't have anyone else to be with except us! The older children really seemed to enjoy it. This is an outdoor event and it can be very hot.

We went to this and we did not like it at all. The food was not good at all! The CMs were not very friendly and it felt like a cheap back yard BBQ. I don't mind sitting at a picnic table with others but be careful who you sit next to...table manners were HORRIBLE AND GROSS!!!! I could not finish my food because of our neighbors lack of manners.
I would not return even if it was FREE!

This is one of my favorite dinner experiences at Disney. It is the only location where the main characters are all together. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale. The characters come out and dance with the children. You may not be able to get the photo op or autograph that you want but this is not the place for it. I loved that the children and adults were doing the chicken dance and hokey pokey with Mickey. The food is all you can eat and drink (beer/wine too) and was tasty enough.
The only down side is using bus transportation...it does take some time to get there, so plan in advance. We knew it would take some time, so we had no issue and enjoyed it very much.

This meal might not be for everyone... But if you're a little bit red neck, this is one of the best times you're gunna have at Disney World! Good old fashion BBQ! Burgers, hotdogs, chicken, ribs, cornbread, beans, potato salad, and beer! Its great! The enteraintment is awesome, country music, charaters dancing with the kids, even a great cowboy lasso show. And the BEER is INCLUDED in the price! Whats a good ol' bbq without beer?
My 2 and a half year old absolutely loved this dinner! She was clapping and yelling YEEEEHAAAA! all night. Cheering at people and giving "high fives" to everyone who walked by. Its just in her blood I guess.
Like I said though experience isn't for everyone. If you're not redneckish you may hate this event. It seemed there were two groups of people there, (keep this in mind when reading these reviews) one group choked down the food a fast as possible and ran out the pavilion like their lives depended on it, and the rest of us stayed until they turned the lights out on us and still didn't want to leave haha. Good old backyard party! Reminded me of my childhood! Loved every minute of it!

My wife and I took our 2.2 year old to this, thinking she'd like it. She did, she loved meeting Minney and Mickey (in that order, lol), some of the dancing, and she loved the mac-n-cheese. Getting there is a problem if you stay at another resort and rely on Disney Transportation. We were at Old Key West, and needed to take a bus to Epcot, transfer to a Fort wilderness bus, then to a Fort wilderness internal bus. All told the trip to get there was 1 hr and 20 mins. I'd only recomend going if you have a car (and even then you still need to take their internal bus). We planned on an hour, and just made it by the time of the start. What they don't say is that the characters are out front before the 6:30 start, allowing for pictures, games, etc. We missed all that...had we known we would have left an hour earlier. My bad for not researching more I guess.
The food was OK, nothing great. The hamburgers were luke-warm, the chicken was dry. My wife tried the ribs and they were just OK. My daughter loved the mac-n-cheese, and I had to admit it was pretty good.
As others have said, one big problem is not the kids, but the pushy parents...trying to get "that photo" and crowding out others who are just trying to have fun and watch their kids have fun. It was probably geared towards and older kid range, I'd guess 5-10...don't recomend spending your money if your children are younger than that. My daughter loved the dancing, and at one point was dancing next to Minney for a few minutes with the biggest smile on her face! But the rest of the activitives just didn't resonate with her. We ended up leaving early (after and hour and a half), knowing it would take at least an hour to get back...which it did. If you're staying at the campground or Fort wilderness Lodge it's probably OK, but not for anyone else unless Disney offers direct transport, LOL!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Incredibly fun and high energy Cons: Mediocre food
This was such a fun family night! my son absolutely loved dancing with the characters and just getting a chance to run around and get out his energy and excitement. The dance floor can get really crowded in the beginning, but there's plenty of room around the edges of the pavilion to just dance and be Goofy. As the night wears on, people leave and it's easier to get close to the characters. Unlike recommendations I've read other places, I don't see a big benefit to getting there very early. We were very early and got a seat towards the front, but on the very side. You're up and moving most of the night, so your actual seat isn't too important. The food is mediocre, so just fill up on Mickey Bars
