Positive aspects of the product (pros): different selection of food for a buffet Cons: busy
We ate here for the first time last September (2008). It is probablly the best breakfast buffet we ate at as far as food and selection is concerned. Not just your typical breakfast buffet stuff here (although you can get most of that too). Character interaction was typical, they didn't spend a great deal of time at our table but they didn't rush off either. Will definatly return here again.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): great food! Cons: we had a bit of a wait beyond our ADR time
Very good breakfast food- we actually had one of the last breakfast seatings and they were starting to set out lunch items which we were able to try as well (but the breakfast items were still plentiful and freshly prepared). The character interaction was very good and included a little musical parade (small instruments were passed out to children and they were encouraged to join in).

It has been my favorite charater breakfast so far.
the food was fresh and flavorful. The punch drink is great and the character interaction was fun.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great variety on the buffet. Tremendous character interaction. Cons: It's in our least favorite park.
Love this character dining experience! We lucked into a walk up on our last visit to the world and didn't know what to expect and have decided this is by far our favorite character meal. The breakfast selection on the buffet was diverse and flavorful and the "jungle juice" was very refreshing on a steamy June morning.

My wife and I attended Donald's Safari Breakfast for the second time in May 09. We really enjoy the food and the characters. It seems to be one of the more popular breakfasts, and as a result can be very busy; however, I never felt as if we were being rushed so our seats could be filled. I highly reccomend this experience to anyone looking for a great breakfast and great characters.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great character interaction Cons: worst service on our trip
This was the most disappointing meal on our recent trip. The food was great but our server was not with it. We had to ask several times for refills of coffee and the juice. On top of that, she lost our bill and delayed our party getting into the park as it opening to the general public.
Overall however I would recommend it. I witnessed other customers nearby who got great service. I would try again but was expecting better service.
Characters were the saving grace at this meal.

We were very disapointed in breakfast. The service was horrible. The waiting area is outside in the heat. The picture backdrop is boring. You have to go to an entirely different room to get your food. The characters did not spend much time with us. We won't be going back.

I thought the food at this place was really good. There were a few items that were a little- out there, but it was yummy. Guava juice is standard, so if you don't like it be sure to request something else before your server leaves your table. The characters were really good. Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy were all there. I enjoyed this place very much and would highly recommend it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Many good quality food selections, great character theming, fun parade for the kids. Cons: Photo package pitch, cramped dining area.
We arrive on time from a 10am breakfast seating at Tusker House and had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated.
The first part of the seating process is waiting in line to take a photo with Safari Donald outside the breakfast. Donald does NOT come inside. This photo is not PhotoPass but one of those photo package deals you get pitched to buy for $29.99 during your meal later. There are no other opportunities to take a photo with Donald, so if you're looking for a Donald photo get ready to pay up. Donald also won't do autographs. If you do purchase the package then you are given a Photopass number to also add the images to that service- but only if you purchase.
Our server, Waleska, was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, our table was a little small for a party of five, and I was pretty much sitting in the aisle at the end of the table. They pack folks in here- it's a cramped seating area.
The buffet is well-stocked with excellently prepared items and was being continually refreshed. Pretty much any breakfast item you could have asked for was available here. Everyone ate well.
We were on the Disney Dining Plan, and Waleska was able to divide our check into two parties without complaint or complication.
The children were given shaker items to participate in a parade led by Goofy. My son loved this. It was fun for everyone.
I would eat here again for the fun and the food.

We were using the DDP but I would not purchase this meal in the future. The waiting area was in disarray and the lines were very long (we had 5 character breakfasts on our trip and this was the only one that had these issues). Once inside the layout for the restaurant was strange with the bathrooms being so far out of the way and near the entrance to the kitchen. We sat in the anteroom directly across from the buffet and the tables were extremely cramped. We have a 4 year old who needed a booster seat and the table next to us had the same situation. The tables were so close that there was not enough room for the two chairs with boosters to fit. Walking between tables was near to impossible and we saw the characters actually have to turn sideways to even make it through. They had a handler who would move aside dishes close to the table edge. The tables behind us were against the wall and the characters couldn't actually get there - those kids had to leave their tables and come forward. When the musical parade began they passed out instruments to about 35% of the children and then they were out. You can imagine that kind of turmoil this caused for the younger children. With such close quarters it was near to impossible to get up and see the parade or to keep your eye on your child. On a positive note, the characters were thorough and really spent time with each person. The outfits (safari themed) were adorable! The food was not as fantastic as I had heard and I thought there would have been some more unusual items (thick porridges, unique breads etc.) but we really didn't see anything like that. The quality of what we ate was fine and it was hot and frequently refilled. Service was not up to the standards we experienced elsewhere on property but from watching the staff it just seemed to be so crowded and the stations so wide apart that obtaining additional service was very difficult for them. I would only attempt this meal again if it were on the DDP and you just had a real affinity for the safari theme.

This was our first visit to the Tusker House for Donald's Safari Breakfast. This and Crystal Palace tied for longest wait time (20 mins for 2 people) -- not horrible, but our other ADRs were quite prompt! The photopass photographer even used our camera to take a pic....which came out better than the one using his camera! (my fault...I blinked!)
Thankfully, we were seated with several other 2-person parties....and a minimum of screaming children! We were one of the last tables to be visited by the characters....and were completely finished with our meals by about 10 minutes....after eating slowly! Some differences to the breakfast here -- Carved Honeyglazed Ham station was yummy and chocolate croissants were good, food was freshly prepared and wasn't "withered" from the buffet lamps. Tried the mealy pap....nothing spectacular. Jungle Juice (mango punch) was good....but very sweet!
This breakfast is a good one to do once....but we'll wait awhile before returning.

The food was pretty good I must say I'm not the biggest fan of buffets but we all found plenty of food to eat and there were 8 of us 5 adults and 3 kids the waitress was asian and hard to understand and the drinks were a little slow getting refilled but overall it was better then average the character thing with the music and stuff was good for the kids

Dec. 2010 - 2nd time here. WE like getting in AK park early for an 8am ADR (when park opens 9am), great photo opportunities on the way to the restaurant without crowds in the background. Good Food. A few different dishes - sweet potato casserole, plantains, etc. Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey are great. Although... later in the day, they are usually at Mickey and Minnie's greeting trail too. It is set up as PODS or stations... so folks, there is no "beginning of the line" so don't flip out when you think I'm cutting in a line that doesn't exist. People don't seem to understand this -- guess we are all programmed by Disney to get in a line wherever we go.

Was really disappointed with the character breakfast here on my recent trip.
My server was WAY too slow. When she showed up for the first time for the drink order, was told I would start seeing the characters within 10 minutes. 45 minutes passed before the first character came into the area. Another 10 minutes before the next character, and so on. She was very slow in the removal of plates or refilling of juice glass. Really don't care for having to pay another $30 for a picture with Donald Duck. This should be included, as it is at Akershus in EPCOT. Passed, as the CM took a pic with my camera with him. Food was ok, but not great.
Probably will skip this place for awhile.

We all liked the food except for the hash with cornbead topping. I was worried about it being too much of an African flare but we all found something we could eat. I would go back. Just beware that Donald does not come inside and does not sign autographs.

The food was great. Our server was prompt and nice. The character visits were a big hit with my granddaughter... and, okay, I admit it... I had a blast getting my picture taken with Goofy. As usual, the characters interacted in superb fashion.
I do think that the extra charge for a picture with Donald was a bit much... but you can always take your own picture. We bought the picture and it did turn out nicely. I just wish it had been half the price.

We just ate here for the first time. This is the best breakfast buffet I have ever been to. The variety runs from traditional breakfast to African fare. There are even Krispy Kreme donuts. The characters visit your table long enough for autographs and pictures. My kids loved the parade with African instruments. We did a time before rope drop. Got to see the rope drop go by and got right on the Safari when we exited. The staff was super friendly.

The food here is average. Nothing special. The location is great and the characters inside are wonderful. However the Donald out front is terrible. He doesn't interact at all. He just stands for a photo and you are on your way. That part is rushed which I do not like. I would maybe visit here again. It depends on how many days we are here. The service inside was wonderful and couldn't have been better.
