Storytellers Cafe is a nice cozy restaurant - the perfect setting for the Critter breakfast featuring the 'woodsy' and 'jungly' characters of Disney stories. I love those mischievous rascals, Chip and Dale, who hold court here, but they can also be found at Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel or Minnie and Friends in Disneyland. Other Critters on hand are Koda and Kenai from Brother Bear, Terk from Tarzan, Meeko from Pocahontas and occasional appearances by Baloo from Jungle Book or various Brer characters from Song of the South (though thay are rare). This is a very laid back, calm, relaxed kind of character meal - unlike the high octane fun of Goofy's Kitchen. I appreciate the option of being able to order from the menu or get the buffet, but I don't feel the menu items are a good value. I ordered what was essentially the size of a Denny's Grand Slam and it cost close to $17 - $18 with tax and tip! Outrageous. I actually think the more expensive buffet is a better value for the money because you can get as much as you want of what they offer. I did the buffet as well, and being a 17-year fan of the vast Goofy's Kitchen buffet, it was hard to get used to the fact that the Storytellers buffet is not that expansive. But it was adequate. The food tasted more woodsy, spicy and rustic to me than other places - perhaps it was my perception of it, unfluenced by my surroundings. Honestly, I would be inclined to go there more often if I cared more about the characters. I really have little interest in Koda, Kenai and Terk, and as previously stated, Chip and Dale - and Baloo too - can be found at other places. The Brer critters don't show up often enough to lure me there. There have been some reported mysterious sightings of Pinocchio in the distant past (what does he have to do with Critters??), but I think that was a fluke. I would recommend Storytellers to people who want the character dining experience at a quieter, easier pace, but you won't find a lot of the 'classic' Disney characters there (though I did see Pluto one time).

This was our favorite character meal at DLR.
The restaurant is so beautiful and, even crowded, was so much less chaotic than most character meals. The characters were super friendly, leading my little ones by the hand to dance and sing.
Most of us had the buffet. It was pretty good with a larger variety than I anticipated considering the (for Disney) reasonable price. MY middle son opted for ordering off the menu and had Mickey waffles. I asked the server if there were Mickey waffles on the buffet because I knew my youngest would be jealous ... she said no, but I will bring extras. Imagine my surprise when she produced an enormous pile of Mickey waffles for my three boys to share. Wonderful! We will return, for sure!

Food was good. Server pushed the buffet. We couldn't justify $12 for our 4 yo who only had a bowl of cereal. BE SURE YOUR KIDS KNOW THE CHARACTERS FOR BIG BROTHER AND POCAHONTAS. Our kids weren't totally up to speed and only knew Chip N Dale. LOVED THE MICKEY WAFFLES!!!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Beautiful setting in the Storyteller's Cafe at the GCH Cons: Menu prices
We had never been to this meal before but absolutely loved it this trip! You have the option of having the buffet or ordering off the menu. We enjoyed getting to see some different characters like: Terk, Kenai & Meeko.
The menu prices are a bit steep, but since this is for a character meal....you're paying for that as well as the food.
$165 for 3 buffets, 3 off menu, 2 children meals & 3 drinks.

We stasyed at the grand californian so decided to have breakfast here. There was no wait. You could order buffet or off the menu. The food was tasty and we enjoyed a relaxing meal.
