Description:

(Suite) Located next to Disneyland and across the street from the Anaheim Convention Center. This 188 room hotel is one of the area's newest. Complimentary continental breakfast is served daily. Each room has a refrigerator, microwave, high-speed internet access, in-room safe, coffeemaker, hairdryer and iron/ironing board. There's a fitness center and outdoor heated pool. Note that this hotel is 100% non-smoking. The hotel rooms can accommodate 2 to 4 guests while the suites can accommodate 4 to 8 (the 8 person kid's suite has bunk beds and a pull out double bed for the little ones, with two queen beds in the adjacent room.) The exterior is surrounded by palm trees, befitting its name. The marble floored lobby is spacious and welcoming. There's limited complimentary parking. The Desert Palms has a Quizno's and Sandbox Bar and Grille. It's location is ideal for strolling to one of Disney's dining venues.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):	Easy walk to the main gate; FULL hot breakfast; courteous staff; suite options affordable for large families
Cons:	Beds could be more comfortable; showing its age a little

This hotel gave us exactly what we were looking for: an affordable option for a family of 6 that was within easy walking distance of the main gate.

While they state very clearly that they can't check you in until 3pm, my family arrived after 6 hours of travel at noon and very tired. The staff on the desk asked us to wait 10 minutes and they had made a room available to us. That started our vacation off on the right foot.

The rooms aren't great, but you're really not looking for more than a place to sleep anyway so that didn't bother my family very much. I don't think the beds were very comfortable, but after a day of walking around DL, everyone had no trouble falling asleep (and staying asleep). We had a room with 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa so we were able to fit our whole family without the need of a second room (which would have been necessary in any of the resort hotels on-site).

The main selling feature is the full breakfast. Including eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, toast, plenty of fruit and yogurt, this gives you everything you need to full you up. And when you have 6 mouths to feed away from home, that breakfast saved us lots of money during the trip. We were able to load up in the morning and then not eat a full meal again until dinner. So every day we just had to purchase some snacks at DL and then a dinner elsewhere. For 6 people, our total spend on food during our stay was around $100 per day.

The location of the hotel is perfect - maybe a 10 minute walk from the main gate even with a 5 year old in our group who didn't protest about the walk at all.
