Positive aspects of the product (pros): Very Close to Crosswalk Cons: Paid Parking
I reserved two rooms at the Tropicana for the days of October 12-16, 2012 and I requested connecting rooms and just that one of the rooms had 2 queen beds (I did not care about the other room). When we checked in at 1:30pm, we were assigned rooms 150 & 151. We had a grocery delivery and the hotel put all of our cold items right into our room refrigerator. That was very nice.
Room 151 (2Q) was ready when we got there. The room was very clean and I did not get dirty socks from walking on the carpet, as some online reviews have stated. There was a microwave & fridge in the room. The only negative was the bathroom; it was a shower only. I like to soak my feet at night and couldn't because of the lack of tub. Also, there was no shelving in the shower to put anything so everything had to go on the floor. I did not like that. There was not a lot of space between one of the beds and the table/chairs in the room, but we do not spend a lot of time in our room so it really isn't a big deal.
The second room, 150, was ready about 10 minutes later and the front desk called to let us know. That room was a 1K room. The bathroom had a bathtub and I liked it a lot better. Again, the room was very clean.
My tall teenaged boys loved the pool. It was 8 1/2 feet deep at one end and they loved that the water was actually over their heads. There were umbrellas to sit under if you wanted to stay out of the shade.
We did not try the breakfast. We also did not have to pay the $9 a day parking fee as we took a shuttle to and from the airport.
The staff was great and I would not hesitate to stay there again. I am working my way up and down Harbor Blvd trying several hotels, and I would give this one a thumbs up.
